Biodiversity action group in partnership with HERB threw a street party last Sunday in Broomhall to celebrate and share the amazing work they have completed this past year! 🏘️🍃🎉

There were lots of delicious baked goods, homemade drinks and an amazing atmosphere with the change lab students and the community in Broomhall!

There were educational pamphlets and posters about HERBs work and information about the green-roof bin storage that student volunteers have co-designed and built (as seen in slide 4!)

It was a brilliant event and a perfect way to celebrate all the hard work of the students and the action group as a whole ⭐️

DEMOCRACY ACTION GROUP CITIZEN ASSEMBLY 🏠🗳️

Earlier this week, or Democracy Action Group facilitated an amazing citizen assembly raising issues around student housing - advising attendees on the Renters Rights Act.

The event started with an introduction from project leader Katherine, followed by an informative chat with councillor about Crookes’ housing situation and the Landlord Licensing Scheme. Activities throughout then ensured discussion remained participatory and inclusive, for example sticking post it notes of the changes to housing students wanted to see on a paper house.

In true citizen assembly fashion the meeting ended with a group vote on the actions they wanted to take moving forward… what do you think of introducing a compulsory university module to know your rights as renters?🤔

We are so proud of the group, thank you to all those who joined us!

Mid-term Change Lab update!

We have two updates from our Sheffield Community Land Trust action group and our Herb Biodiversity Action group.

This week our SCLT group held a session with Ranmoore Rainbows! They discussed community, shared spaces and used their workshop materials to engage with the group and educate the kids about community land.

Herb have also been up to a lot out in the community, helping out and getting involved with gardening activities at herb. The project they are focusing on currently is designing new bins storage, and through engaging with local residents they have managed to get residents to agree to new green roofed storage bins, the group are in the process off designing these and making them themselves.

Well done to all our change lab groups for all your hard work.
We are looking forward to seeing what the other groups are getting up to this semester!
