3️⃣0️⃣ on the 3️⃣0️⃣th! 🤩

30 people were in attendance for our latest ‘5k Your Way’ event alongside Sandringham parkrun on Saturday 30th May. 😎 We got to enjoy the beautiful surroundings on the Sandringham Estate, marvelling at the exquisite rhododendrons in full bloom, and the rays of glorious sunshine peeking through the canopy formed by the branches of the trees. 🌺🌳This cover offered a refreshing shelter as we navigated the route whilst the heat from the sun was warming the air. 🌤️

As always, there was a mixture of ‘regulars’ keen to catch up with others they had met previously at the event, as well as some newbies interested to find out more. The selection of home-baked goods did not disappoint, and we relished the opportunity to chat with others after we had completed the course. 🥰

Our next meet will be on Saturday 27th June 2026, so please feel free to join us if you are around and would like to find out more.

As quoted from Miss Congeniality:

‘Describe your perfect date.’
‘I’d have to say April 25th because it’s not too hot and not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.’ 😂

And today was perfect in many ways….more than 30 of us came out to enjoy the glorious morning, embracing the freshness in the air under the cover of the trees, but also the warmth of the sun when walking in the open sections of the course - perfect conditions by all accounts. ☀️😎 We also marvelled at the majestic beauty of the scenery around us; the shocking pink of the flowering rhododendron in bloom contrasting to the greenery of the other foliage, and the rare sight of a hare bounding through the woodland. 🌸🌳🐰 It’s important to soak in these moments as you never know when you’ll next be able to savour these natural wonders. 🥰

After the customary catch-ups whilst completing the 2-lap course, a large group convened to sample the culinary delights on offer. 🍰🧁 We continued our conversations, and were so engaged in these that we almost overstayed our complimentary parking! 😬

Thank you as always to the amazing staff from The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust who continue to support the event in person and promote to patients, their family and friends. 🙌 Also, a shout out to one of our Ambassadors Malcolm, who was Sandringham parkrun Run Director today and gave us a fantastic introduction prior to the start. 👏

Our next meet (Event 28) will take place on Saturday 30th May 2026. We hope to see lots of familiar faces, as well as anyone new who would like to join us. 😍

The sun was shining and the rhododendrons were out, meaning that spring has most definitely sprung! 😎🌺

Ahead of the clocks going forward tomorrow, we saw over 30 attendees join us and put their best foot forward at our latest meet this morning. The stretch tent was back up, but fortunately the rain held off and it wasn’t required. 🙌

Our regular ‘core group’ continues to grow with lots of familiar faces, as well as some returners, and of course newbies who were warmly welcomed. As always, thank you to all the volunteers from Sandringham parkrun for making this possible, and not forgetting our ambassadors, particularly those who work at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust and continue to promote the initiative and spread the word to patients and their families. 🥰

Our next meet will be on Saturday 25th April 2026. We hope to see you there!

You may have seen that we recently celebrated two years since launching at Sandringham parkrun. There are now 120+ ‘5k Your Way’ groups nationwide, yet we are still the only one in Norfolk. I am keen to try and change that and willing to support others in establishing something elsewhere in the county, as we currently have people that travel a significant distance to be able to attend.

The ‘5k Your Way’ initiative tags on to existing parkruns and encourages those affected by cancer to attend on the last Saturday of each month. Participants can either walk, jog, run, cheer, or volunteer, all the while reaping the many benefits that being physically active brings. We then gather afterwards to enjoy some homemade bakes and cakes so that we can continue socialising.

In terms of ‘ambassadors’, you need a minimum of five, at least one of which must be a healthcare professional or someone working in cancer services to help promote referrals from hospitals, cancer centres, GP’s, etc., You don’t have to commit to attending every month, provided that you still have a reasonable presence there. I was fortunate as I approached staff at the QEH in King’s Lynn and they were enthusiastic about supporting the initiative, and several of them already regularly participated in parkrun.

It is honestly so rewarding and will make such a difference to those who attend so if you are keen to find out more, please visit https://www.moveagainstcancer.org/5k-your-way/ or e-mail me via [email protected] so that I can look to answer any questions you may have and support you in setting something up.

WE ARE 2! 🎂🎉🎈

27/02/2026

A month on from the incredible day when HM The King visited Sandringham 5k Your Way, we’ve been reflecting on the impact this has had on us as a charity: global news coverage, thousands of shares on social media, a 633% increase in visits to our website on that day and joy within our community. Awareness-raising is important for a small charity like ours. We are incredibly grateful for King Charles’s support and we’re thrilled that all this attention means we can share our message more widely about the benefits of movement for those living with and beyond cancer. You can read about the amazing ripple effect of the royal visit here: https://www.moveagainstcancer.org/articles-and-blogs/

WELL, WHAT CAN WE SAY?!?

Almost speechless again! 😱

A heartfelt thank you to His Majesty The King for greeting us on the first lap of Sandringham parkrun in the beautiful setting of the Sandringham Estate this morning. 👑 The sun was shining and lots of people were able to enjoy taking a moment, sharing their stories, and chatting with others as they navigated the course. ☀️🥰

This is the second time (a year to the day!) that he has surprised us and his continued support of the fantastic initiative that is MOVE Against Cancer Charity and wider raising of the profile of cancer and the forthcoming World Cancer Day on Wednesday (04/02/26) cannot be understated and is truly appreciated. 🩵

A memory that will live long into the future. 🥰

A reminder that next month (28/02/26) we will be celebrating our SECOND birthday since launching! 🎂🥳 The theme will be ‘twinning’ in honour of this so please come in your best matching outfits. 👯 We will also have plenty of cakes and home baked goods to enjoy afterwards. 🍪🧁 We hope to see you there. 🙋‍♀️

A TASH-TASTIC ‘Movember’ meet for 12 of our group today. 🥸

The rain certainly didn’t dampen our spirits as we enjoyed a walk and catch up around the course. 🥰 The home-baked goods afterwards were also greatly appreciated! 😋

Our next meet (and last one for 2025!) is scheduled for Saturday 27th December. Whilst Christmas will have been and gone by then, we will still be dressing up in honour of the festive period. Please feel free to join us and spread the good work of MOVE Against Cancer Charity. 🩵
