Little Discoverers

Little Discoverers Little Discoverers (WNSfP) is part of a network for children with movement difficulties and delayed development.

Little Discoverers, West Norfolk School for Parents provide early therapy/education for children aged 0-5 who have movement difficulties and delayed development. E.g., Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, genetic conditions and more. The parents come with their child to a free, group session, once a week for 36 weeks a year. We support up to 24 families in 3 separate two-hour sessions. We promote a thr

ee-way relationship between parent, child, and specially trained Little Discoverers staff. Including the whole family in your child’s development is important to Little Discoverers. We hold sibling events in the school holidays so families can meet, have fun, learn together and siblings can meet other young carers too. A unique, holistic, and multi-sensory form of early education is used, inspired by methods used at the Peto Institute of Conductive Education in Hungary and the Early Foundation Stage Curriculum. This form of education is designed to stimulate and awaken the child’s senses and encourage self-awareness through activities and experiences that are fun for both the children and the parents. Specially trained staff and equipment are used alongside rhythmical intention to help the child to build new neural pathways. A child is more likely to learn when they are having fun. The group sessions are carefully planned to address all aspects of their development, including physical, social, emotional and communication skills. Early intervention is vital to enable children to maximise their potential, build confidence and prepare them for life at home and school. Parents/carers can also benefit from the group session by meeting other families who may be going through similar circumstances to their own. A child can be referred to Little Discoverers by their parents/carers, healthcare professionals or children’s services. Simply call or email to find out more information and arrange an initial visit.
