Trafford Carers Centre

Trafford Carers Centre We support unpaid carers looking after someone who couldn’t manage without them across Trafford. Working with carers from age 5 upwards.

A Carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage otherwise because of frailty, illness or disability. Very often people do not recognise themselves as carers; they are just family members, friends or neighbours who find themselves in a caring situation, sometimes suddenly, sometimes gradually, and simply get on with what nee

ds to be done. A Carer does not always live with the person being cared for, but their help may be essential to enable somebody to go on living in their own home. It can be a help to know you are a Carer; it is a way of recognising that you are doing a very important job, which can be demanding physically and emotionally. It may be a help to know your work is recognised by others and there are some benefits and services available to help you in your role.

Carers Week 2026 starts today!

This year's theme is **Building Carer Friendly Communities** – recognising the vital role unpaid carers play and ensuring they feel seen, valued and supported.

In Trafford, thousands of people provide unpaid care for a family member or friend, often without recognising themselves as carers. If you help someone because of illness, disability, mental health needs, addiction, or age-related conditions, you may be a carer too.

Throughout the week we'll be sharing support, activities, advice and opportunities to connect with other carers.
