Our Senior Sessions at Dig It Community Allotment have been amazing this summer. You can't beat a lovely cuppa & chat in the sunshine surrounded by flowers & nature 🌤☕️
Our wonderful group have also been weeding, watering, picking flowers, harvesting apples, tomatoes & strange shaped courgettes to take home with them 💐🌹🌷🌻🍏

We will continue to run our sessions through the rest of Summer into Autunm & Winter on Thursdays 10am - 12 noon.

We think the Saffron Walden Badgers must have gym memberships 🦡🏋‍♂️💪
We made a fence around our sweetcorn crop at Dig It Community Allotment to prevent the Badgers getting in. 🌽🌽🌽
We put a very heavy railway sleeper in the only place they could dig.
We're amazed they were strong enough to move it, dig under the fence & have a midnight snack!
Hopefully better luck next year🤞

It was a little to hot for the amazing students from Café Cornell to come to the plot yesterday so we took Dig It Community Allotment to them where they completed the onion project by preparing our finished crop to be eaten by everyone who attends our Dig It sessions 😋
They've grown these onions from plot to plate.
Sown seeds 🧅 planted 🧅 nurtured 🧅 watered 🧅 weeded 🧅 harvested 🧅 cured 🧅 eaten 🧅 you can't get fresher than that 💚 Just over 200 onions 😀

✨️Prospectors at Dig It Community Allotment✨

We had the pleasure of welcoming some younger members of the community to the plot during our Open To All session yesterday 💚

So we decided to dig for golden nuggets and harvest our potato crop 🥔🥔🥔
Full of excitement they dug up a whole bucket worth and got to take some home to make chips for their dinner.

Huge thanks to Gemma Sturges & Audley End House and Gardens for welcoming our GrowAbility Group last week.

Due to the high temperatures our Saffron Walden Mencap Society session relocated off the Dig It plots to visit the wonderful Kitchen Gardens, Grounds & House. Thank you for offering our group this wonderful day out 💚

Volunteer Waterers Needed! 🌱💧

Dig It is looking for volunteer waterers to help care for our community allotment over the weekends during the hotter months.

This flexible weekend volunteer role is ideal for anyone who enjoys being outdoors. Watering can be done in the morning or evening, at a time that suits you. You can volunteer for as little as one weekend per month!

Bring a friend or family member and enjoy spending time on our beautiful plot while helping to keep our plants, vegetables, fruit and herbs healthy and thriving. We also have free parking and toilet facilities available on site for volunteers.

Support your local community allotment and help it thrive this summer.

Fantastic Day at our "Plot to Plate" Café Cornell session last week!

To avoid the extreme heat, our wonderful Lisa brought the allotment inside, making sure the students remained hands-on with planting and putting their gardening knowledge into practice indoors.

Dig It values these amazing partnerships and making sure our groups never miss out!
