This is a friendly, relaxed online group with people from all across the UK who’ve been diagnosed with stage 1 or 2 Melanoma.

Message Melanoma-Me Foundation for the link.

It was great to see familiar and new faces at our last Melanoma Cafe where we discussed, amongst other things, the impact a melanoma diagnosis can have on our personal relationships.

Our next cafe is online on Wednesday 24th June at 7pm. The theme for this cafe is waiting! We'll discuss the impact that waiting for results, for appointments and for check-ups can have on us. How do we manage living in limbo? What has been helpful and what hasn't? How do we cope with the uncertainty?

Whether you'd like to come along and share your experience or just listen to the group, message us for the link and join us in June 🦋 Open to anyone affected by melanoma in the UK

It is hugely important to wear sun cream but how do you know you which one to choose?

🌟UVA rays are harmful rays that pe*****te the deep and thickest part of the skin. UVA affects the elastin in the skin and leads to wrinkles. (UVA A - Aging)

🌟UVB rays are responsible for sunburn and strong links to malignant melanoma and basal cell carcinoma risk (UVB - Burn)

🌟It is really important when choosing sun cream that you look for a good UVA rating which can be found on the back of the bottle. The stars indicate the percentage of the harmful radiation absorbed by the sun cream(5 stars is the best - 90-100%)

🌟SPF - Sun Protection Factor - this is the level of UVB protection and is rated 2 -50+. We would always recommend you wear factor 50 and reapply regularly, especially when you have been in the water.

🌟It is really important to check the expiry date of your sun cream (this is usually found on the back of the bottle). After this date the sun cream will be less effective against UVA and UVB rays ( - when you open your bottle, pop a sticky label on with the date opened and you will never have to second guess yourself again)

We also have our very own UV detection bands and bracelets which change colour when UV is present.

Thinking of the family of Zoe Panayi on the anniversary of her passing due to melanoma. Please sign and share the petition in this story. It’s a reminder to get any moles or skin lesions checked. Unfortunately that might mean advocating for yourself, you might need to push for a referral to a dermatologist.

Today is the 6th anniversary of my sisters passing 💔

I know the last few weeks have been heavy and I know some people may have found it difficult to read.

But this is why I have spent the last 6 years campaigning.

Because this was not just “bad luck”, Zoe did what she should have, she went to the doctors multiple times… what did she get?

LET DOWN

And the reality is another family somewhere is living this story right now.

I have shared the final days of my sister Zoe’s life because people need to understand what melanoma can actually do. Not the filtered awareness version.

A beautiful young mum, her children were everything to her!

Two children left without their mummy.

A family & friendship group changed forever.

If even one person checks a mole earlier because of Zoe’s story, then her voice is still making a difference. 🌻

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people:
- My mum, she shows the most incredible strength and love to all around her
- To Stuart, without you all I do with campaigning wouldn't be possible, you have been an absolute rock
- To Zoe's friends, ALL of you, I love seeing the stories you share, you remembering her, you supporting. I couldn't thank you enough
- To Jamie, Toby & Theo's father. You are an amazing dad and show so much love and support to Theo & Toby
- To Theo & Toby... I can't imagine what it feels like to lose your mummy so young, but you are both amazing and doing so well! Keep being you.

But I still need your help.

Please keep sharing Zoe’s story.
Please keep talking about skin checks.
Please help us push for real change.

For better education, for earlier intervention, for accessible mole mapping and testing…AND

FOR PEOPLE TO STOP DISMISSING CHANGES IN THEIR SKIN

This campaign has never been about sympathy.
It has always been about stopping another family living this nightmare.

If you can, please sign and share Zoe’s Law:

Thank you to everybody who has supported this over the years. It genuinely matters more than you probably realise, it’s a tough road to walk and confronting everyday, but with the support of those around me it helps!
