It is with very heavy hearts that we share the sad news that our much-loved Sidney has passed away.
Sidney brought so much to The Palomino Trust, and we will miss him dearly. He loved spending time with people, greeting them with curiosity and a genuine enjoyment of their company. When he wasn’t out doing therapy work, he had his own little human who adored him.
We carefully shaped Sidney’s work around his personality and needs, helping him remain inquisitive and happy to meet people. Horses have their own personalities, preferences and limits, and respecting Sidney’s individuality was at the heart of everything we did with him.
His loss also brings changes for the Trust. In the current financial climate, we will need to organise future events through third-party animal-assisted service providers. This isn’t ideal, as knowing Sidney so closely allowed us to carefully tailor his involvement to suit him. We will carry that same concern for each animal’s wellbeing into our future plans.
For now, our thoughts are with everyone who loved Sidney, especially his little human. Thank you to everyone who helped care for him, welcomed him, and shared in his life.
Thank you, Sidney, for the happiness and connection you brought to so many people. You were dearly loved.
