Rotary Youth Leadership Award
Each year we have the opportunity to sponsor two young people to attend RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Award. In South Yorkshire the residential event for 16 to 17-year-olds is held at a custom built facility in Castleton.
The Award aims to build communication and problem-solving skills and develop strategies to become leaders in their own Community. Through fun activities it is hoped that the young person’s potential is unlocked and that lasting friendships within the group are made.
The photograph shows TRC students Tino and Aiden together with Rotarians who were involved in the project.
Tino and Aiden gave an excellent PowerPoint presentation at our Club meeting on 2nd April, not only recording their experiences but also stressing the significant benefits they have been able to incorporate into their daily lives.
These two students are inspirational and we wish them every success in their future endeavours.

Donation to "Rotherham Families First"
"Rotherham Families First (RFF)" is the Charity chosen by our President, Martin Davis, for support during the current Rotary year. Our donation has enabled RFF to purchase over 60 safety gates that will protect countless children from injury.
They prevent children from falling down stairs, entering kitchens or even leaving their homes in those dangerous seconds that they occasionally manage to escape watchful eyes.
The donation has been kindly acknowledged by Anne Levick on the RFF page at:-

Busy afternoon at Flanderwell Primary School preparing the sensory garden. (These photos don't include the children for safeguarding reasons but some will follow later). A visit later in the year will be arranged and hopefully the flowers will have taken.

The children became very enthusiastic at raking so it will be a lovely surprise if the seeds manage to find daylight!

Rotherham Sitwell Rotary proud to support Asim’s Kenya Project.

In the summer of 2025, Asim Hussain travelled to Kenya to help construct a playground for pupils at a local school. He covered all of his own expenses and fundraised an impressive £1,850 towards the project.
Rotherham Sitwell Rotary, in response to his fundraising, was proud to support his efforts with a £600 donation.
Asim has recently reported back to share the impact of the work he helped make possible — a wonderful example of service in action.
Good luck, Asim, with your studies and your future career in Social Work. Perhaps one day we’ll be welcoming you as a Rotarian!

Valentine's Meeting
Thursday 12th February was a social meeting. Following on from the success of last year's Valentine's Meeting, this was again a partners' meeting with a three course meal and entertainment from Lucy Millburn. She sang a medley of songs including requests from members, partners and guests. It was a very enjoyable evening and the meal and entertainment were excellent.

A Big Thank You From Rotherham Sitwell Rotary.
On 5th February we had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from our supported charities who received significant donations (approximately £6000 in total) from our Christmas collections — the ones you saw us doing outside Asda and around the streets of Rotherham.
It was a brilliant reminder of what a difference those doorstep donations and supermarket bucket drops really make. Here’s how your generosity has already helped:

Start a Heart 24:7 Start a Heart 24:7 – They’ve been able to install additional defibrillators across Rotherham, giving more communities lifesaving access when and where it matters most.

Rotherham Cancer Care Centre Rotherham Cancer Care – Your donations funded extra acupuncture sessions, helping more people manage pain, stress, and the side effects of treatment.

Andy’s Man Club Andys Man Club Rotherham – The money went towards venue hire and refreshments, helping them keep their vital peer support sessions running.

Rotherham Families First Rotherham Families First – They used the donation to provide even more Christmas presents for local children who might otherwise have gone without.

Swinton Lock Activity Centre Swinton Lock Activity Centre – They’ve been able to offer additional support sessions for school age children who need a safe, encouraging space.

Every speaker shared just how much these contributions mean — and every penny came from the generosity of local people during our Christmas collections.
From all of us at Rotherham Sitwell Rotary: thank you. You helped make a real difference across our community.
