Charity Evening
Together with Round Table, 41 Club and Tangent, we have arranged a fund raising event on Rotherham Day, Friday 18th September, 7.00 for 7.30pm at the Hind pub. This is in aid of 'More Than A Number'. More Than A Number is Rotherham United Community Trust’s season-long fundraising campaign, created to protect vital Health and Wellbeing sessions across Rotherham.

The campaign supports activities including United in Health, MAN v FAT, Coffee Mornings, a Walking Group and Andy’s Man Club. These sessions help local people improve their physical and mental wellbeing, build friendships, and feel less isolated, but they currently receive no dedicated funding.
The event costs £20 per head and this includes entry, Pie, peas and chips (steak and ale or turkey and ham),music bingo with five rounds of prizes, three games of 'heads and tails' and a free raffle.
Guests and friends welcome. Advance booking required.

"All Aboard Again"

Last Thursday a small group of members and guests had a very enjoyable trip along the canal hosted by Swinton Lock Activity Centre. The weather was perfect and refreshments were taken at the Gorilla Beer Hall. (Sadly the brewery has now closed but the Beer Hall is still thriving).

Our thanks go to Rotarian Tom Knight and other members of Swinton Lock Activity Centre for their kind hospitality. Members and guests present made donations to the Charity.

Response to the Venezuelan Earthquake

Rotary Children’s Fun Day
On Tuesday 9th June thirty children from Coleridge Primary School visited Grimm & Co for their story making experience.
Unfortunately, due to safeguarding issues, photographs were not taken.
Comments from the children involved included -
"I loved that Grimm and Co had so many secret rooms that we went into."
"We made our own stories and made magical characters as a team."
"I enjoyed coming up with the ending of our story together."

Club Handover-Welcome to the "Triumvirate".

Our meeting on 21st June was the Club Handover at which the new officers were installed for the Rotary year 2026-27. For various reasons the position of President is to be shared between three members each taking on the role for a period of 4 months. Therefore at the meeting last Thursday, Peter Keary was installed as President, Tom Knight as President-Elect and Steve Burns as Vice President. All three are Past Presidents so bring a wealth of experience which will benefit the smooth running of the club.

Members thanked the outgoing President Martin Davis for all his hard work and guidance over the past two years.

President Peter gave a short presentation on the combined thoughts and ideas of the "Triumvirate" for the forthcoming year. We wish them well and look forward to an enjoyable and successful Rotary year.

Rotherham Families First Open Day
On Wednesday 10th June President Martin attended an open day held by Rotherham Families First (RFF) at their distribution and storage site at Parkgate in Rotherham. Having been helping Rotherham families in need for many years now, RFF is an established local charity that provides crucial help to children and families in need. A number of RFF sponsors attended first, followed by the referrers (these include Family Support, Social Care, Midwives, Nurses and the Mayor Haroon Rashid alongside other institutions and charities and of course some 20 volunteers. Rotherham Sitwell Rotary was proud to have supported RFF in our year 2025/26 when they were chosen by our President as his nominated charity. Anne Levick who runs RFF explained why our generous contributions have been so important. Following this success our President recently put RFF forward for consideration of continued financial support by Rotherham Sitwell Rotary for a further 3 years and the club voted to support this recommendation. And so we look forward to working with Anne and all her wonderful volunteers as we continue to support Rotherham Families First.

We will again be helping Wortley Rotary with their Vintage and Classic Car Show at Wortley Hall on Sunday 12th July. It is a great Family day out and proceeds are in aid of the Children’s Hospital and other local charities. Please come along.

Rotherham Sitwell Rotary is delighted to announce that in the coming Rotary year we will be supporting four fantastic local causes: Rotherham Cancer Care, Rotherham Families First, Shiloh Rotherham - Homeless Support, and Start a Heart 24:7.
As many of you know, we support charities through our long standing Framework for Giving.
Each year, our incoming Presidents choose one charity for a one year focus, and our members vote for one charity to support for a three year period.
We’re pleased to share that:
• Our Presidents’ Charity for the year is Shiloh
• Members have voted for Rotherham Families First as our new three year charity
These organisations make a real difference across Rotherham, and we’re proud to stand alongside them.

At our meeting on 2nd April we presented a cheque to help support Rotherham Talking Newspaper. Rotherham Talking Newspaper is a local charity serving visually impaired, disabled, and elderly people in the Rotherham area The cheque was received on behalf of the Charity by Rotarian Tony Eden, a member of our Club.
