The Friends of Broomhill

The Friends of Broomhill Inaugurated in May 2007, Friends of Broomhill is a community organisation dedicated to the improvement and enrichment of Broomhill Park, Strood.

Broomhill Park lies at the top of the highest hill in Strood, yet many locals are unaware of its existence. Between the trees there are spectacular views over Rochester, Chatham, and the River Medway. The long-term ambitions for the park is to enlarge the public space to incorporate the woodland including glades for picnic areas. You can help us, what could be more fun than getting out into the op

en air for a couple of hours? Plus you can really make a difference!! All ages and abilities welcome, (children accompanied by responsible adult please) tools supplied, and all work is safely supervised by our Team Leasers. We hold a weekly Thursday morning workgroup (all year) and Sunday morning workgroups (September to April). The Friends of Broomhill are just ordinary residents like yourself who are trying to make the park a better place. We are only as good or bad as our membership allows. We need residents to show their support, not only by helping with the scrub clearing and planting days and active involvement in our activities, but also by subscribing a small amount to become a member. Membership is only £5 for the year. Please visit our website: www.friendsofbroomhill.org.uk/

A very wet morning in the orchard but volunteers managed to put another 17 door mouse tunnels up and the usual litter pick was done . The earthy smell of rain (petrichor) as we walk around the orchard is wonderful but enough is enough! now some more sunshine ☀️ is definitely needed.

Good morning facebook followers happy Monday.

Today volunteers had the grim task of clearing away various items from a area! Needless to say in this heat wasn’t pleasant 😬some of the wood planks we found had large nails protruding which is a danger to wildlife 🥲 lots of trees seem to have had bark taken off which is a mystery to why it had been done 😡 A litter pick was also carried out, lots more wild flowers coming to life Down in our pocket orchard… so amongst negative we also have lots of positives 😄

Come and join our team Thursday 10 until 12 meeting down on pocket orchard off friends walk.
