Public hall, a few minutes walk from the centre of the village. It can also be hired privately for functions, weekend conferences, day courses, craft fairs etc.

The Memorial Hall is used by local groups for meetings and classes and for annual events such as the Swaledale Marathon & Swaledale Festival. A regular programme of music & theatre performances organised by the Management Committee raises money for the support of the Hall and other groups such as the Reeth Artyfacts and the Brass Band hold their own fund raising events there. Coming up on Saturday 7th November we welcome Jaywalkers - a foot-stomping trio fusing Bluegrass, Country, Folk and Americana with their trademark virtuosity, humour and skill.

Jaywalkers are a real melting pot of their collective inspirations and the influences of their musical upbringings. This is evident in their live sets which come to life in their use of Country heartbreak and Bluegrass dynamism applied to issues of the modern day and life as a touring band…mostly stuck on the M6.

Tickets are £17 in advance (£19 on the door) and under 16s are half price; on sale at Reeth Post Office or contact Glen Steward 01748-884989, email: [email protected] Proceeds are in aid of hall funds. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

Coming up on Saturday 31st October we welcome back Bard Edrington V with the Blackbirds. Bard is a singer songwriter born in Alabama, raised in Tennessee and now living in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he runs a landscaping business and spends most of his days working outside, drinking in inspiration from his surroundings. His songs are influenced by the old time music of the Appalachian mountains and delta blues, holding up the tradition of the bard with his in depth story telling through his music. Joining him on this tour are Karina Wilson on fiddle and vocals, and Sarah Ferrell on bass, along with Jim Palmer on drums. Grounded in folk and country, Bard and the Blackbirds will have your feet tapping and your mind drifting to distant landscapes! We have three fabulous evenings of live music coming up.

Friday 23rd sees Honey & The Bear here for the first time.

If you fancy a break from Halloween mischief we have Bard Edrington V Music here on 31st October. This time with a four piece band all the way from New Mexico.

The following Saturday brings Jaywalkers to Reeth Memorial Hall for the very first time.

Upgrade to toilet facilities

We are happy to announce that works to improve our toilet facilities have now been completed.

This was made possible with grants from The Yorkshire Dales National Park Sustainable Development fund, another from Hudson House and a finally a very generous local source who wish to remain anonymous. Thank you to you all for your incredible support.

We have also committed a significant amount from the Halls reserves to this project. Reserves are built up over the years and held so that such improvements can be made. Thank you to all users of the hall and attendees at concerts who contribute greatly to building our reserves.

For those of you familiar with The Memorial Hall you will know that the toilets could be particularly cold and damp during the winter months and that the ladies’ facilities, in particular, were very cramped.

Following a selection process, we appointed K H Heating Ltd to manage the project for us and carry out all plumbing and heating aspects of the job. They in turn brought in Dales Masonry for extensive building works. Thank you to both companies and all individuals who worked on the project.

Significant amounts of insulation have been incorporated into the walls and ceilings and a dedicated heating zone, separately controlled, established for this area of the building. The wall between the old ladies’ toilets and the cloakroom has been opened up enabling a significantly improved and spacious ladies’ facility to be created. Two spacious cubicles replace the previous single cramped cubicle.

Toilets, urinals, and sinks have all been replaced along with associated dryers and mirrors and tiling replaced where it could not be salvaged.

We are immensely proud with what has been achieved and hope that you will benefit from these improvements when visiting.
