BIBS (Babies in Buscot Support)

BIBS (Babies in Buscot Support) Founded by parents in 1987, BIBS is the official charity of Buscot Ward, the RBH local neonatal unit.

Babies in Buscot Support helps sick and premature babies and their families on the local neonatal unit (Buscot Ward) at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. Our charity is run by former Buscot parents meaning we know first-hand the difference our charity makes in helping to save tiny lives and improve the experience of families who go through the stressful experience of having a sick or premature new born baby.

πŸ’œ Happy International Neonatal Nurses Day! πŸ’œ

Today is all about celebrating the incredible nurses who care for some of the tiniest and most vulnerable babies, and the families beside them.

Being a neonatal nurse is so much more than the clinical care they provide. It’s knowing the tiny details that make each baby unique, getting to know their routines and what helps them feel settled. It’s supporting families as they find their feet, listening, reassuring and being there through the good days, the difficult days and all the uncertainty in between.

And, of course, it’s doing all of this while juggling the clinical skills, knowledge and expertise needed to care for babies who need such specialist care. Neonatal nursing takes an incredible combination of compassion, patience, resilience and skill - and we are so lucky to have such an amazing team caring for our Buscot and Transitional Care familiesπŸ’œ

So today, we simply want to say thank you.

Thank you for everything you do, for every baby you care for, every parent you support and every family you help through their neonatal journey. You make a huge difference, often in ways you’ll never fully know πŸ’œ

And we’re not stopping at today! Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful BIBS supporters, we’ll be celebrating with a tea party and gifts for the team next week πŸ₯³β˜•πŸŽ

Happy International Neonatal Nurses Day to our brilliant neonatal nurses - we hope you know just how appreciated you are! πŸ’œ

This week we were delighted to welcome Kat from Hartbeeps East Berkshire to our Family Support Group in Earley πŸ₯πŸ₯³πŸͺ‡ We had such a brilliant turnout, and there was plenty of singing, dancing, playing and, of course, lots of smiles! πŸ₯°

A huge thank you to Kat and Hartbeeps Berkshire for bringing so much fun to our group and giving our families such a lovely morning. We had a great time! πŸ’œ

Our Family Support Groups are a great place to share experiences, connect, and enjoy a relaxed chat with other Buscot and Transitional Care families πŸ₯°

Led by our Family Support Worker, Sammy, our sessions are free to attend and include complimentary hot drinks, sweet treats, and toys for babies and toddlers. During the summer holidays, siblings are very welcome too (just let us know) β˜•οΈπŸ€—πŸͺ

Our groups run on alternate weeks at accessible venues in Tilehurst and Earley. Both venues are on popular bus routes and have large car parks, making them easy to get to by car or public transport. πŸš—πŸšŒ
