With many of us celebrating Mother’s Day today, lots of beautiful bouquets will be arriving in homes across the country. But please be aware that lilies are extremely toxic to cats.

Even a tiny amount - such as brushing against the pollen and grooming it off their fur, or drinking water from a vase containing lilies - can cause severe kidney failure in cats.

If you share your home with a cat, the safest option is to keep lilies completely out of the house. If you suspect your cat may have ingested any part of the lily plant, please seek advice from your vet immediately.

Please consider mentioning this to friends and family when they’re choosing flowers, and help us spread awareness to keep our feline friends safe. 💛🐾

*MISSING CAT*

Ozzy, a lovely male cat, has been missing from his home on Tilehurst Road, RG30 6XH since 2nd March.

His family have told us that Ozzy is quite a timid boy and has only recently started exploring the outdoors, so he may be feeling frightened and unsure of his surroundings.

If you do happen to spot him, Ozzy has a soft spot for Dreamies, which might help tempt him closer.

If you have seen Ozzy or have any information at all, please do let us know by emailing [email protected]

*A HAPPY TAIL FOR AMARA*

From fending for herself on the streets of Southcote Lane to curling up safely in her new home, Amara’s story is one that shows how a little care and kindness can change everything.

This sweet tabby-and-white girl was first reported to us as a stray – unchipped, with a winking eye and a few scratches, but otherwise in good health. The kind local who’d been feeding her grew concerned about leaving her behind while they went on holiday, so Amara came into our care while we searched for an owner.

When no one came forward, we began the search for a new beginning – and we’re so happy to share that Amara has found her perfect home. Following her adoption, Amara’s adopter told us:

“Amara is settling in beautifully, I'm honestly astounded! She spent most of Saturday hiding, but has been confidently exploring the house since then. No issues with the new litter box, and eating/drinking well. She has let us have many pets and is starting to jump less frequently at unexpected noises. Thank you so much for putting us together, she's already a part of the family.”

From lost and lonely to loved and safe, Amara’s journey reminds us that every cat deserves a second chance.

🎃🐾 Cats can find Halloween a little spooky too!

Help keep them safe this Halloween:

- Keep cats indoors during trick-or-treating to avoid traffic or stressed encounters.
- Watch out for toxic treats like chocolate and sweets.
- Decorate safely – avoid candles or decorations they could knock over.

Let’s make Halloween fun and safe for our feline friends! 🐱💛 👻

*A Happy Tail for Phoenix*

This big-hearted boy had been overlooked time and time again. Too energetic for homes with young children. Too boisterous for quiet lap-cat life. But behind all that spirit was a cat bursting with affection, just waiting for someone to understand him.

We’re so happy to share that Phoenix has now found his perfect home with his adopter Paula, and he’s already making himself at home.

“Phoenix is settling in well and getting used to all the household noises day by day,” Paula tells us. “He loves curling up on the sofa next to us, enjoys being brushed, and is very nosy – he always wants to know what we’re up to!”

After months of waiting, Phoenix finally has what he needed all along: someone who sees him, gets him, and loves him exactly as he is. To everyone who shared his story or rooted for him along the way – thank you.
