When AI image generators are released without proper safeguards, they become weapons of abuse used to target, humiliate and terrorise women.

After an AI-generated assault video of UK MP Jess Asato was created and circulated online, she made the brave decision to fight back. She is taking xAI to court and campaigning to close legal loopholes that leave women exposed to deepfake abuse.

Jess is pushing for protections that we all desperately need. Let’s make sure she knows our Soroptimist SIGBI community stands firmly behind her. 💙

Last week, Caroline Foster, co-founder of Fresh Thoughts, had the immense honour of speaking directly with Queen Camilla during the Royal The Royal Family visit and giving her a copy of Fresh Thoughts.

Caroline explained how the booklet is helping women access vital information and legal support when fleeing domestic abuse.

Caroline also thanked the Queen for her lovely response when she was sent the original Dorset version 2 years ago and explained that it has now spread across the country.

Gail Thomas from Soroptimist International Bournemouth was able to share other Soroptimist SIGBI projects related to violence against women and girls.

We also want to extend a massive thank you to Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner, David Sidwick .

David’s ongoing support and sponsorship of our booklet have been invaluable, and we are so grateful to him for championing our work alongside Caroline during the reception today and giving such welcome recognition of the work of Soroptimist International .

Having the Queen listen so intently to our mission is a testament to the enormous success of Fresh Thoughts. Let’s keep this momentum going!

Today was an incredibly proud day for Fresh Thoughts where, during the Royal visit to Blandford Forum in Dorset, our very own Caroline, one of the co-founders of Fresh Thoughts, had the immense honour of attending the community reception and representing our project!

If you look closely at the video around the 16:38 mark, you can see the stunning, newly renovated interior of Blandford Forum's Corn Exchange, absolutely buzzing with local energy ahead of the Royal arrival.

Right there in the heart of the room representing Fresh Thoughts was our wonderful co-founder, Caroline!

It was such an honour for our project to be hosted in this historic space alongside Dorset’s finest community groups.

A menu that should never be on the table 🛑

Tonight, as pubs and living rooms across the country fill up, a predictable and devastating pattern begins.

For millions, match day is about drinks, food, and tension on the pitch. But for thousands of women and children, the menu tonight is entirely different. It consists of walking on eggshells, navigating volatile fuses, and facing a sharp escalation in violence the moment the whistle blows.

We cannot treat these survival tactics as a normal, accepted part of our sports culture. It is time to change what we tolerate.

Through the Fresh Thoughts initiative, clubs are stepping up to deliver vital safeguarding resources and front-line advocacy tools. We have done the groundwork so your club can take action in your local community without having to start from scratch.

This week a Molesey soroptimist took up an invitation to the launch of another invaluable UK soroptimist led resource for agencies who support victims of violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Great Britain. The Surrey Hills 'Fresh Thoughts' local version is now available to those who advocate, advise and support victims in the South West Surrey area. These bespoke signposting and advice booklets are already available to support agencies via 17 soroptimist clubs across Great Britain and Northern Ireland. A number of other regional versions are in press and the scope of use is increasing month on month. For additional information get in touch.

The real high-stakes environment tonight isn't on the pitch 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

As the managers adjust their tactics for tonight's game, thousands of women are quietly calculating their own survival strategies.

The correlation between major football fixtures and spikes in domestic abuse is well-documented.

While football does not cause abuse, perpetrators do, the high-pressure environment, combined with alcohol and unpredictable results, acts as a dangerous catalyst.

Win, lose, or draw, a woman is still at risk.

We refuse to stand by and watch this happen tournament after tournament.

Through Fresh Thoughts, we are actively working to challenge this culture and improve community safeguarding through the Fresh Thoughts initiative.

We want to invite sister clubs across the country to join us in distributing front-line support materials. Let's use our collective voice to protect women and girls. 🕊️

Some numbers need to be kept close 📝

In the run-up to a major match this evening, our fridges and noticeboards are often covered with tournament schedules, fixtures and plans.

But for thousands of women and children, these dates aren't a countdown to a celebration, they are a countdown to a period of heightened risk.

When domestic abuse cases spike during England matches, finding a moment of safety to seek help can be incredibly difficult. That is why having vital support numbers easily accessible, or even memorised, can be a lifeline.

While millions of households are setting out their football shirts and match day routines for Wednesday, thousands of women are quietly making very different preparations.

For those living with domestic abuse or coercive control, a major tournament fixture isn't a source of entertainment, it is a period of heightened risk.

The stark reality is that reported domestic violence incidents spike significantly during England matches.

The items packed into a bag tonight won't be for a celebration. They are escape essentials: a hidden front door key, a fully charged phone, emergency cash, and a plan.

We cannot treat these survival tactics as an ordinary, accepted byproduct of sports culture.

Through the Fresh Thoughts initiative, Soroptimist clubs are taking direct action. We are equipping local communities with robust safeguarding toolkits and frontline advocacy resources to support survivors and challenge this environment. We want to invite your club to join us. 💙
