As we experience extreme heat over the coming days, here are some tips for staying cool:
🏖️Stay out of the heat if you can, and if you have to go outside stay in the shade
👒Wear sun cream, a hat, and light clothes
🏃Avoid exercise or activity which makes you hotter
🧊Have regular cold food and drinks
🫗Drink extra water and avoid alcohol
💦Have a cold shower, or splash cool water on the back of your neck.
❗️Always be careful of cold-water shock if at the beach or in rivers
🏠Keep living space cool by keeping windows and curtains closed during the day
🪭Use a fan if the temperature is below 35C

A national celebration of the big impact small charities have in communities across the UK.

This Small Charity Week (22–29 June), Timebank South West is proud to be part of a national celebration of the vital role small charities play in communities across the UK.

This year’s campaign, Small charities. Big impact., shines a light on the difference small charities make every day, supporting people, strengthening communities and creating change where it matters most.

In Plymouth, small charities like ours play a crucial role in instilling value and purpose. Timebank helps reduce loneliness and isolation by helping to create connection, opportunity and support networks across the city.

As part of Small Charity Week, Timebank South West invites you to join us at a Social Exchange or our Glee Groups, bring a friend and help us to raise awareness of the impact of small charities and the communities they serve.

Small charities are where change really happens. They are rooted in their communities, responding quickly to local needs and providing support that fits real people and real places.

At a time when many communities are facing increasing pressure, their role has never been more important.

A spokesperson for Small Charity Week said:

“Small charities may be small in size, but they are BIG in impact.

They are creating change in communities every day, often quietly and without recognition. Small Charity Week is a moment to celebrate that impact and to stand behind the organisations making it happen.”

Small Charity Week is a moment to recognise and back the work of small charities across the UK.
