We are hugely excited and beyond proud to announce that we have been awarded a two year funding grant by the Royal British Legion

Their support for and interest in our T2S Full Circle Expedition and in the work of T2S demonstrates their enduring commitment to supporting those who have served.

Exciting times ahead.

A full circle moment in every sense…

Today, as Spirit of Falmouth and Pellew made their way home, a Naval helicopter appeared overhead and carried out a series of flypasts above the vessels.

Quite by chance, it echoed a moment from the very beginning of this journey, when the Invictus Games Flag was delivered by 824 Naval Air Squadron to Spirit ahead of the expedition's launch. We couldn't have planned the symmetry if we tried.

Over the past three months, we have witnessed extraordinary determination from every veteran who stepped aboard, every crew member who faced the challenges of life at sea, and every member of the T2S team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this ambitious expedition possible.

There have been moments of triumph, moments of uncertainty, and moments that have tested resilience in ways few people will ever fully see. But through it all, we have watched confidence return, friendships become lifelong bonds, and individuals rediscover strengths they thought were lost.

Tomorrow, the expedition comes to an end, but its legacy will endure long after the sails are lowered. Full Circle was never just about completing a voyage. It was about empowering veterans to realise their potential, embrace new challenges, and navigate life with intention, confidence and fulfilment. Whilst ever we are needed, this will remain our purpose.

What Full Circle has meant to us as a team is more than we could ever capture in a single post. We are incredibly proud of everyone who has been part of this journey and deeply grateful to all those who have made it possible.

To the veterans, crew, supporters, partners and followers who joined us along the way - thank you.

Tomorrow, we come full circle.

It was never just about sailing.

It wasn’t about the ships, the miles covered, or even the incredible journey around the UK.

It was about people.

The veterans who stepped on board. The veterans who followed the journey from afar. The veterans whose stories have been shared along the way.

And it’s about the veterans we haven’t reached yet.

Thanks to your support, we’ve now raised an incredible £20,000 towards our £50,000 target. Reaching that target will help bring Pellew, a new sailing vessel, into the Turn to Starboard fleet, creating more opportunities for veterans facing challenges including PTSD, anxiety, depression, physical injury, isolation, unemployment and low confidence.

Because recovery doesn’t happen alone. Connection matters. Purpose matters. And every veteran deserves the chance to navigate life with intention and fulfilment.

If you’re able to, please consider donating via our fundraising page: fullcircle.turntostarboard.co.uk - Every donation, share, comment and conversation helps us move one step closer to our £50,000 goal.

Thank you for being part of this journey 🖤💛

Tune in for the homecoming on Thursday 🌊

We can confirm the names of the three members of the Royal Navy who tragically lost their lives during a helicopter training exercise on Wednesday 3 June.

They are:
Lieutenant Commander Chris Gayson, 42, Somerset
Lieutenant Lily-Mae Fisher, 31, Surrey
Petty Officer Owen Green, 24, Hampshire

All three dedicated their lives to serving the Royal Navy and their country. Our thoughts remain with their families, friends and colleagues at this time.

PTSD

Spreading the word to help others, contact details at the bottom.

I am reaching out on behalf of the FIRST PETT Study Team at King’s College London and Queen's University Belfast to ask whether you would be willing to share information about a new mental health therapy study which may be of interest for your veteran members.

We are currently running the FIRST PTSD Experimental Treatment Trial (FIRST PETT), which is evaluating a new psychological therapy for PTSD. The therapy is called FIRST (Fast Imagery Reversal Script for Trauma-release) and is designed to be comfortable, non-traumatising, short duration, and non-intrusive. This builds on promising results from earlier work with ex-servicemen and women, which you can read more about here.

We are now aiming to recruit 215 UK military veterans who have PTSD or are experiencing PTSD symptoms - so far, we have recruited 92 veterans (43% of the total needed). Eligible participants will be randomly allocated to receive FIRST therapy immediately, or to join a waiting list and receive the therapy after 24 weeks. The therapy itself is delivered online over 3-4 sessions and our study will be assessing its effectiveness. Veterans can learn more and apply to take part in the study on our website:

https://www.inspirewellbeing.org/firstpett-project/

With this in mind, I wonder if you might consider sharing information about the study with veteran members, or whether you have any thoughts about how we might reach more veterans in need? We would greatly appreciate any signposting you can provide.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please do not hesitate to get in touch - we would be happy to meet to discuss this.

With best wishes,

Phoebe
