📣 BIG NEWS!

We are delighted to announce that our next PBCG event will see us return to the historic Royal Citadel, Plymouth, on Friday 25 June 2027, the day before Armed Forces Day.

And we are returning for a very important reason.

Once again, we will be supporting The Chestnut Appeal for Men’s Health, raising funds while, just as importantly, raising awareness and educating people about prostate, testicular and pe**le cancers.

The impact of our 2025 event is still being felt. More than a year later, we are still hearing of men being diagnosed with cancer following conversations and messages that started because of that event and our subsequent awareness campaign.

That tells us one thing.

We need to keep the momentum going. We need to keep talking. And, hopefully, we can help more men catch cancer early.

We are extremely grateful to the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess for allowing us to return to this prestigious and historic venue.

🇬🇧 THE EVENT

This will be a military themed afternoon, beginning at 12:00, including a tour of the Royal Citadel, its camp and battlements. The whole event will be finishing at approximately 18:00.

We are incredibly pleased to announce that SAS veteran and Bravo Two Zero legend Chris Ryan will be joining us, alongside other special guests, to talk about some of their extraordinary experiences.

But at the heart of the afternoon will be men’s health.

We will hear honest, real life experiences from people who have faced these cancers, alongside a consultant urologist who will explain, in plain English, what prostate, testicular and pe**le cancers are, the importance of early detection, treatment options and what life can look like afterwards.

This isn't intended to be a medical lecture. It is about having conversations that men sometimes avoid, understanding the warning signs and encouraging people to act when something doesn't feel right.

And women are especially welcome. Partners, wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and colleagues can play an enormously important role in encouraging the men in their lives to get checked.

🎟️ Tickets are £55 per person, including food and PSA testing kits.

There will also be some very special one off prizes and auction pieces available on the day.

With only 150 places available, this will be a limited event.

So speak to your boss, take the afternoon off, bring your team and join PBCG at one of Plymouth's most remarkable venues for an afternoon that will be entertaining, informative and, most importantly, could genuinely help save lives.

A massive THANK YOU to Matt Neale owner at https://arborcure.co.uk/ who co-ordinated a wonderful evening at HMS Drake on Friday, with the successful author of adults and children’s thrillers, and former SAS 22, Colin Armstrong MM, who writes under the pen name of Chris Ryan.

Actor and former Mountain Leader, Tip Cullen was the compère for the evening in the Officers Mess, while Paul Montgomery, former Warrant Officer and owner of Sir FixaLock took questions from the floor.

Matt from the Ivybridge Book shop was on hand, selling the new release from Chris Ryan, called Breakout, and there was a meet and greet session after such a wonderful talk

All are welcome. Refreshments and biscuits provided free

Parking Up to 3 hours FREE in the Alexandra Road Crownhill shoppers car park PL6 5AE at the side and rear of the church. Even though parking is free you still need to obtain a ticket from the machine. There are two electrical charging points available. The Hall is around the back of the Church – entrance from the car park

The meetings are patient led and are a great opportunity to meet other people across the area who are going through or have gone through the same procedures as you.

The support group is open to patients, family and friends

Let’s talk about a rare cancer no one is talking about. (And why we need to change that).

Most people have never heard of Pe**le Cancer. Because it is rare and affects an intimate area, many men delay getting help out of embarrassment. But just like any other health issue, early detection is absolutely everything.
Knowing what is normal for your body is your best defence.

Symptoms you should never ignore:•
A growth, sore, or ulcer that doesn’t heal within a few weeks•
Changes in the skin colour or thickness (like thickening or colour changes)•
A rash or small crusty bumps•
Unexplained bleeding or a foul-smelling discharge under the fo****in•
Unexplained pain in the shaft or head

Who is most at risk?
While anyone can be affected, risk factors include carrying the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), smoking, or having phimosis (a tight fo****in that is difficult to pull back, making it harder to clean underneath).

If you notice any changes, a sore that won’t go away, or anything unusual, please don’t wait.
Embarrassment should never stand in the way of your health. Make an appointment with a GP or visit a local sexual health clinic right away.

The Drakes Island Swim is this Sunday, the 20th September, starts at 11am, on the beach at Firestone Bay with swimmers setting out for the Island, round a marker buoy and making their way back to the beach a distance of around 1.5km.
