We are making cycling for everyday journeys easier ✅

Through our Cairngorms 2030 programme, we have awarded funding to six projects that help local communities shift up a gear and build the skills and confidence to get cycling.

Projects include developing the Grantown Bike Kitchen, expanding a community-led cycle hub at the Glenmore Visitor Centre, installing an e-bike charger in Kingussie and running cycle confidence and bike maintenance courses in Aviemore and Ballater. Plus, a National Park-wide programme to increase access to cycling for all.

Find out more about the fund recipients at the link in the comments ⬇️

Cairngorms 2030 is made possible through funding by The National Lottery Heritage Fund Scotland, with thanks to National Lottery players.

A journey of tragedy, turmoil, and at last, triumph

31/08/2026

Mountain biking in Scotland is about much more than riding trails. Behind every great riding experience is a diverse network of people working across trail development, coaching, bike mechanics, events, tourism, education, media and outdoor leadership.

At DMBinS, we want to help ensure that people have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to become part of that industry.

That’s why we’ve been working alongside Qualifications Scotland and education partners, including Peebles High School , to develop a new Customised Award in Mountain Biking.

The qualification has been designed to give learners a genuine introduction to the breadth of the mountain bike sector.

Through a combination of practical and classroom-based learning, learners can develop skills across riding, fitness, bike maintenance, trail inspection and maintenance, leadership and safe outdoor practice.

The new Customised Award in Mountain Biking at SCQF Level 5 has officially launched, and is piloting at Peebles High School and Galashiels Academy.

Centres interested in delivering the qualification are encouraged to contact DMBinS for guidance on approval requirements, staff training, and delivery support.

Please read full press release and find further details of the qualification here

Humbled and honoured to share that my film, 'Chasing the Unknown' has been officially selected to be a part of SPORTFILM Liberec .

Absolutely buzzing to add another Laurel to this cover shot by Andrew_Leinster_Photo.

Im thinking its about time me and Andrew work together again. Time to do something pretty big and special.

Happy Friday with a spring in my step.

The ceiling of the property in Galashiels had collapsed and the building had been a regular target for vandalism before the Hike & Bike Hub moved in.
