🎉💙 £650 RAISED! THEY DID IT! 💙🎉

What an incredible achievement!

A huge congratulations to our amazing nursery colleagues Jess & Kayleigh, who took on the Torbay 10K and have raised a fantastic £650 for YMCA South Devon! 🏃‍♀️👏

We couldn't be prouder of them both. Not only did they put in the miles and cross that finish line, but they've helped us take another step towards developing our Music & Movement initiative.

Their fundraising will help provide new experiences and resources for our children and young people to explore the joy of music, movement, dance and self-expression. 🎶💃

A massive thank you to everyone who donated, shared their fundraising page and cheered them on. Your generosity really does make a difference. 💙

And finally… Jess & Kayleigh, you've been brilliant! But we have to ask…

Same time next year? Or even the Half Marathon? 👀😂

🔨 A little help goes a long way! 💙

A big thank you to James at Redwood Carpentry Contractors Limited for popping in to help us out with a few sticking door locks at YMCA South Devon! 🚪

It’s amazing how much of a difference a little help from our local community can make. We’re so grateful to local businesses and tradespeople who give their time, skills and support to help us keep things running smoothly.

Supporting a local charity doesn’t always have to mean making a donation - sometimes, it’s simply lending a hand when it’s needed most. 💙

🏠 World Homeless Day | 10 October

Homelessness doesn't always look the way we imagine.

It can mean sleeping rough, but it can also mean sofa surfing, living in temporary accommodation, or staying somewhere that is unsafe or unsuitable. And it can happen to anyone.

A relationship breakdown, domestic abuse, losing a job or a landlord selling their property can all leave someone at risk of losing their home. In Torbay, the loss of a private rented tenancy is the most common reason for homelessness, with rising rents and the cost of living adding to the pressure.

📊 In the past 12 months, more than 1,500 people have approached Torbay Council for help because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Behind every number is a person, a story and someone who deserves to feel safe and have somewhere to call home.

At YMCA South Devon, our Nightstop service supports young people aged 18–25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by connecting them with approved volunteer hosts who can offer a safe place to stay. Alongside a bed for the night, a meal and a friendly face can provide reassurance at a difficult time.

❤️ Could you help make a difference?

You don't need to have all the answers to help someone facing homelessness. By becoming a Nightstop host, you could offer a young person a safe place to stay when they need it most.

🏡 Interested in becoming a host, or simply want to find out more about Nightstop?

📩 Get in touch with YMCA South Devon to start the conversation.

Open your door, change a life.

No single organisation can tackle homelessness alone. By working together across Torbay, we can help prevent homelessness, improve access to support and work towards lasting change.

This World Homeless Day, let's remember that a safe place to call home should never be taken for granted. ❤️

🎄❤️ Feeling incredibly grateful to be part of something so special this Christmas!

We’re absolutely honoured that YMCA South Devon has been nominated, alongside Children's Hospice South West, to receive the proceeds from the upcoming Christmas Social raffle.

The message behind this event - Supporting local families at Christmas - means so much to us. At YMCA South Devon, we see how important it is to be there for young people and families when they need support, and we know that a little kindness and generosity can make a real difference.

To everyone involved in organising the event, and to those who have thought of us when choosing the charities to support, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Being included alongside such a wonderful charity is a real honour, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity to be part of it. ❤️🎁

Would you like to help make the Christmas Social even more special? We’d love to hear from local businesses or individuals who may be able to donate a prize for the raffle.

Every contribution, big or small, would be hugely appreciated and help make this a fantastic event for everyone involved. If you’re able to donate a raffle prize, please get in touch - we’d love to hear from you!

Thank you again for thinking of YMCA SOUTH DEVON and for helping to make a difference to families this Christmas. 🎅✨
