Bass Rock Community Group

Bass Rock Community Group We are group of individuals and families who want to put something back into our community. The Group meet once a month on-line, for no more than an hour.

The Bass Rock Community Group was born out of the North Berwick Resilience Group set up during the Covid pandemic to support our local community. It is a group of individuals and families who want to put something back into their community but have limited time to do so because of family, work or other commitments. We plan projects and just get out there and do things. We work with other local gro

ups where and when required. We are open to all and you can give as much or as little of your time as it suits you. Our annual membership fee is £20. This is to cover Insurance and necessary items like reflective tabards so that we can work safely.

Come along to our OPEN DAY on Saturday 11 July, on Anchor Green at North Berwick Harbour.

We've got lots of exciting stalls including a new interactive crew member challenge where you'll learn some of the skills it takes to become a crew member.

Of course we will have the usual raffle offering the chance to win a family Sula Boat Trips, a family adventure on Foxfall rope course at Foxlake Adventures, 2 tickets so see Russell Howard at Fringe By the Sea and many other prizes donated by local shops and businesses.

Popular activities including the soak a crew member (or parent) in the stocks, a throw line challenge and the book stall will also return alongside the tombola and live music including sea shanties.

We are also holding a Lifejacket Clinic throughout the day where you can get safety advice on the correct fitting and maintenance of your lifejacket.

All this alongside North Berwick Harbour Trust's Harbour Market, it's a day not to miss!

The council says it has now presented its key points regarding the scheme "a little differently".

We were absolutely thrilled with how Picnic in the Park went on Sunday. It simply wouldn’t have been possible without the support, generosity and hard work of so many people in North Berwick, and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped, both on the day and in the days leading up to it.

A special thank you to the Bass Rock Community Group and Harbour Helpers, who did a fantastic job stewarding throughout the event; to Bill McNair and Kirsty Baron for helping transport equipment; to Caledonian Horticulture for generously lending us bins; and to Tesco North Berwick in Our Community for keeping our performers well looked after by supplying our “green room” with plenty of food and drinks, The Law, North Berwick and A2B Taxis North Berwick for sponsoring our flyers.

There are many more people, businesses and volunteers who contributed behind the scenes, and while we can’t name everyone individually, please know that your support was invaluable. Events like this can only happen because of a community that is willing to come together and help.

From all of us, thank you for making Picnic in the Park such a wonderful day. 🙏😁

North Berwick Community Council is launching a community evidence programme ahead of East Lothian Council’s formal 12-month review of the new parking scheme, which comes into effect on 1 June 2026.

The aim is to gather structured evidence over the first year of the scheme so that the experiences of different parts of the community can be properly understood and represented during the review process. We would welcome your views no matter your stance on parking charges.

We recognise that the scheme may affect people in very different ways — including residents, businesses, workers, commuters, Blue Badge holders, visitors, clubs and community organisations.

We are therefore inviting people to register to take part in a series of short surveys approximately every three months during the first year of the scheme.

Survey groups include:

• Businesses, Traders, Clubs and Societies
• Residents Within the Parking Zones
• Residents Outside the Parking Zones
• Workers in North Berwick
• Commuters and Railway Station Users
• Accessibility, Blue Badge Holders and Carers
• Visitors, Tourists and General Town Users

Many people may fit into more than one category. For example, you may:

live outside the parking zones but work in town
live within a parking zone and commute
run a business and also be a resident

You are welcome to participate in more than one survey group where relevant.

Each survey should take approximately 5–10 minutes to complete.

To register, please use the link below:

Please share this post as widely as possible and as soon as possible with anyone who may be affected by the parking scheme. The broader the participation across the community, the more meaningful and representative the evidence will be during the formal review process.
