Calling any accountants in East Linton - can you help?

We’re looking for someone to independently examine our accounts - ideally someone local who’s keen to support our volunteer-run village hall.

The person must have the required skills and experience. An accounting qualification is preferred but not essential. It’s a small and straightforward set of accounts so will only require a small amount of time, once per year.

Please contact Katie, our Treasurer, if you are able to volunteer your time & skills to support our village hall with this.

A Quick Note About Chairs and Tables

We know you’re trying to be helpful by putting chairs and tables away and we really appreciate the thought!
However, please don’t put them away after use. Here’s why:
1. Save your fingers! It’s easy to get them caught while stacking furniture, and we don’t want you getting hurt.
2. Avoid accidents. Stacking chairs or tables incorrectly can be dangerous and ends up costing our hall keepers extra time to fix and increases the risk of them getting injured.
3. Help us run smoothly. The next users may need the chairs and tables out, so leaving them as they are actually saves time for everyone.

So please even though it feels helpful the best thing you can do is simply leave the room as you found it.

Thank you for your care and cooperation

1️⃣ No dogs on the premises – Please remember that no dogs are allowed on the premises, except for service dogs.
2️⃣ Storage in the disabled toilet – We’re trying to identify who owns the two large boxes currently stored in the disabled toilet. Our current baby/toddler group doesn’t use them, so they may belong to a previous playgroup or another group. For now, we’ve moved the boxes to the shed, as their previous location was blocking wheelchair access. UPDATE IN COMMENTS
3️⃣ Steering Group meeting – A reminder for Steering Group members: our next meeting is this Wednesday at 7:00 PM. We’ll be meeting upstairs in the meeting room this month (which we know isn’t the easiest to access), but we hope to be back in the small or main hall next time.
Thanks everyone for your understanding and cooperation! 💙

The East Linton Annual Art Exhibition raises vital funds for your Community Hall.

After expenses, Artist entry fees, a small commission from each painting sold and the £1 entrance fee all go directly to the Hall.

These funds help us keep community hire rates affordable and contribute to essential maintenance. For example, our essential window repairs are going to cost thousands, a major expense for your volunteer run hall.

Without these fundraising efforts, we’d have to charge much higher rates, and the Hall would stand empty. Instead, this wonderful event allows us to maintain the building and celebrate the incredible local talent in our community. Thanks to Agata and her team who generate the buzz for this show and also do all the heavy lifting ( literally and figuratively) to make this show a success.

Studies using brain scans show that viewing art you find beautiful activates the same reward centers as love and music literally giving your brain a “pleasure hit.” Please come along and enjoy the show 😍
