On Friday afternoon, we welcomed 45 Local Authorities from across the North of England for a session focused on current SEND changes and reforms.

From collaborating with BSiL Family Hubs and inclusion practitioners to monitoring local demand for places and increasing engagement with funded training opportunities, the session brought Local Authorities together to share best practice, discuss developments, and explore the local impact of SEND reform.

Last Friday we hosted our second Comic Relief celebration session, bringing together settings and accompanying LA’s from the North of England.

The event was a great opportunity to celebrate the 31,000 educators the project reached and to see the settings that have taken part in our training to drive inclusion as best practice in their local areas.

Congratulations to our nominated Star Settings, who were nominated by their local authority to receive a highly commended award that reflects their commitment to embedding inclusive practice, strengthening relationships with families and creating positive opportunities for children through the Dingley’s Promise Training Programme. A special congratulations to Beverley Manor Nursery School, our Star Setting winner for the North of England!

Behind the scenes at our Tidworth, Gloucester and West Berkshire centres recently!

From exploring natural textures and experimenting with mark making, to outdoor adventures and fun Stay and Play sessions, our teams are always finding ways to encourage children with SEND explore, play and learn something new.

Behind each activity is thoughtful planning to make sure children can take part in ways that work for them, with opportunities to follow their interests, try new things and build skills at their own pace. These everyday experiences help children develop confidence and make sure every child has the opportunity to belong, participate and thrive.

On Monday morning, we welcomed early years settings and local authorities to celebrate the impact of our Comic Relief-funded inclusion training programme.

The project reached over 31,000 educators and gave 97% of educators more confidence to support children with SEND. The event was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the impact of the project, recognise the brilliant work happening across settings and local authorities to drive inclusion as share best practice around what strong inclusive practice looks like in action.

A very clear message was that inclusion is everyone’s responsibility in the setting and a whole setting approach builds confidence, team working and embeds an inclusive ethos which is transformative for children, families and settings.

Congratulations to our ‘Star Settings’, who received a highly commended award nominated by their local authority to reflect their commitment to embedding inclusive practice, strengthening relationships with families and creating positive opportunities for children through the Dingley’s Promise Training Programme. Affordable, accessible childcare is about more than funded hours - families need a system that works for them.

A new report from the Early Education and Childcare Coalition, developed with the London School of Economics, explores how changes to childcare subsidies could make support simpler, improve family incomes and help parents access work. The research found that 41% of parents using Tax-Free Childcare and 46% using Universal Credit childcare support said the schemes had not enabled them to work extra hours.

It also highlights how changes in eligibility and the level of support available can leave parents facing significantly higher childcare costs, leading some to reduce their working hours or turn down additional work.

At Dingley’s Promise, we believe that every child deserves the best start in life. That means working towards a childcare system that is more flexible and easier for families to navigate, ensuring that families can access affordable, inclusive early education and childcare that truly meets their individual needs.

A day of racing, sunshine and celebration at Ascot - thank you to our friends at Ascot Racecourse for generously providing charitable tickets to Qatar Racing British Champions Day!

It was a wonderful opportunity for members of the Dingley’s Promise community to enjoy this special event together and share more about the difference we make for children with SEND and their families.

What does an inclusive approach look like in practice?

Inclusive practice is not something you do once - it develops through reflection, adaptation and the choices you make every day.

Embedding Inclusive Practice explores how your curriculum and environment can work together to remove barriers for children with SEND. With key strategies to support inclusive environments and approaches, this topic will build your confidence in early identification of needs.

It’s been a busy month for the Dingley’s Promise team, with lots of opportunities to celebrate achievements, share knowledge and connect with people working to improve support for children with SEND and their families.

Listening to families and championing their experiences is an important part of our work, alongside supporting children and families through our centres, sharing inclusive practice with educators and engaging with policymakers to push forchanges that make a real difference.

Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to!

We recently held our first Dingley’s Promise Family Voice Group.

The group is an opportunity for families to connect and talk about what matters to them as a SEND parent in the early years. Hearing directly from the families we support is an important part of understanding their experiences and how we can continue to improve our support and push for wider change in the sector.

Our next session takes place on 1 December and is open to Dingley’s Promise families. We look forward to welcoming more of our families and continuing the conversation! If you’d like to join, please email [email protected]
