Newbury Advanced Motorists

Newbury Advanced Motorists We provide all the mentoring and guidance you'll need as you develop your advanced skills with our team of friendly and skilled Observers.

Newbury Roadsmart is affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists and is one of over 200 groups nationally that are run by volunteers to promote and encourage safer driving. We were established in 1996 and can now boast a membership of over 150. Our qualified volunteer observers have coached 100s of ordinary drivers to develop their driving skills to such a standard that they would do well if

they went on to the IAM Advanced driving test as well as helping countless others just to improve their driving standards. Through the IAM framework we offer a number of driving packages and courses. During the year we hold regular meetings & events many of which contain presentations on a Roadcraft related topics as well as other areas of interest. We arrange regular skid pan courses for our members and associates. So if you are interested in improving road safety and knocking those bad habits into touch - contact us here or at: https://www.iamroadsmart.com/groups/newburyam.

Make The Pledge My road safety pledge I promise that I will: Remind my family, friends and colleagues to take extra care on the roads. Put my lights on for safety. Drive as safely as I can and follow the rules when behind the wheel or riding a motorbike or bicycle. Be extra vigilant and attentive....

Chief Observer Dick Bird sets the standard for Masters

Last week our Chief Observer Dick Bird took his Masters three year renewal with our ASDM Shaun Cronin. Dick always demonstrates an extremely high standard of driving, and this was confirmed by his well-deserved award of a Distinction.

As a Group we should be very proud of having a Chief Observer who is not only very dedicated to the job of arranging all the Associates and Observers, but also has such a high standard of driving.

From all of us, well done Dick and keep up the good work!

Have you seen Association of Optometrists' road safety campaign? We encourage everyone to go and voluntarily get their eyes checked regularly

Today marks the first day of Tyre Safety Month 2017 which is a campaign run every October by TyreSafe.
"TyreSafe is a UK’s charity dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of correct tyre maintenance and the dangers of defective and illegal tyres.
While the need to carry out regular tyre checks may seem obvious, an alarming number of Britain’s motorists are replacing their tyres only when they have already become illegal and dangerous."
For more information: https://www.tyresafe.org/
Remember to check your tyres and also keep an eye out on IAM RoadSmart social media pages for a little competition on Thursday :)
