Call of the Wild Development Trust

Call of the Wild Development Trust We are a charity based in South Wales, empowering local children with resilience to prepare them for the future. We are a charity based in South Wales.

Our Resilience Programme empowers children to thrive! Our aim is to boost children's mental and physical resilience. We provide them with essential life skills, give them access to outdoor adventure activities and involve them in team tasks. This boosts their confidence, helps them develop good habits and a positive mental attitude so they can grow and become active and engaged citizens within our community.

We love this! 🥰

To all the young carers out there, we think you are absolutely wonderful!
That’s why we offer activity days for young carers to give them a break and connect with others who understand how it feels.

What we plant in our Resilience Programme keeps growing long after we leave. 🌱

We recently received some fantastic feedback from a Year 6 teacher:

"It's been wonderful to see the resilience of the pupils develop and we have been able to continue learning and using this week to influence class work.

We had ESTYN in school the week after the programme and they were very impressed with our approach as a school linking real life experiences with class tasks. This was especially true for our Resilience programme"

Seeing things take root, branch out and grow is what its all about 🌱🌳

"Jumping off the waterfall was challenging but I was glad I did it. I discovered I am good at climbing the rocks and swimming. Next time I have a challenge I will have a more positive attitude." — Resilience Programme Participant.

This is exactly why we do what we do. 💙

Through our Resilience Programme, we believe that the courage it takes to navigate a rushing river is the very same resilience needed to thrive in a new school and beyond.

By stepping out of their comfort zones and into a wetsuit, these children aren't just learning water safety; they are discovering an inner strength that will ripple through their lives long after they leave the water.

Confidence in the water = Confidence in life.

Thanks to generous funding from Hodge Bank, children from Melin Primary School crushed our Resilience Programme last week. We had an absolute blast watching them build confidence, tackle challenges, and show us what they’re made of!

'Now I will be more confident and stronger and I don't need to be shy or scared of anything!'
I felt proud and loved it, you are all so welcoming and kind!'

Feedback from Year 6 pupils at Sandfields Primary School who took part in our Resilience Programme this week.
They pushed through despite the weather gathering vital coping skills and building confidence. Proud to see them grow!

Thanks to The 1910 Trust for making this possible.

“From now on I will always believe in myself. Thank you, I had a fantastic time and I would recommend this every day of the week!" ❤️
We spent an incredible week with the pupils at St Therese's Primary School, and feedback like this reminds us exactly why we do what we do. Witnessing these young people discover their own resilience and confidence is the best reward we could ask for!

This impact is made possible through grant award support from The Postcode Community Trust and players of The People's Postcode Lottery.

Together, we’re helping kids be the best they can be! 🌟
