Bridges Befriending is a wellbeing project that links local volunteer befrienders with people who require a little company.

Our befrienders visit an older person in their home, perhaps for a cup of tea and a chat, or to go out for a walk. Community Connections supports people who are socially isolated in Monmouthshire to feel part of their community by providing volunteer befrienders. We bring people together either on a one-to-one basis or in social activity groups. Volunteers can provide company at home and may also enable people to get out to get to appointments or local facilities. Community Connections has two project bases, one in Bridges Community Centre, Monmouth, and the other in The Palmer Centre, Chepstow. The project has a steering group made up of representatives from Monmouthshire County Council (MCC), Aneurin Bevan Health Board (ABHB), Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO), Monmouthshire Housing Association, Care and Repair, Bridges Community Centre and the Palmer Centre.

Here we are again and Xmas has landed in the shops! I'm sure I've seen Christmas adverts on TV as well!!
You will see our busy schedule for November.
Just to let you know that during the 2 flu jab sessions we held at the Market, 55 farmers gained FREE immunisation. If you still want a free flu jab, contact Raglan Pharmacy or your local Pharmacy or GP.

🎄 Christmas in Monmouth: The Lost Reindeer Trail 🦌

Haberdashers’ Monmouth School and Monmouth Town Council are delighted to invite local children and their families to a free festive event at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Prep School.

A very special reindeer has gone missing somewhere in the school. Follow the trail, complete the activities and collect stamps in your Christmas Trail Passport as you search for clues to its identity.

Refreshments and light bites will also be available throughout the event.

Our volunteer drivers are at the heart of everything we do, and we believe it's just as important to look after them as it is the passengers they support.

We want every driver to feel confident, comfortable and equipped to make a difference. That's why we provide practical tools to support them on their journeys, from ID lanyards that help passengers feel reassured when meeting their driver for the first time, to swivel seats and car door handles that make getting in and out of the vehicle easier for passengers who need a little extra support.

But supporting our drivers goes beyond the equipment. We provide full training and DBS checks to help them feel confident on the road and prepared for different situations, alongside regular conversations to make sure they're happy, supported and enjoying their volunteering.

We pride ourselves on the relationships we build with our volunteer drivers. Their experiences, thoughts and feedback really matter to us, and provide us with some of the best feedback.

After all, we simply wouldn't be what we are without them 🚗💛
