Our building may be temporarily closed, but our work continues — in homes, in communities and alongside our incredible volunteers. Bridges Centre was founded in 1984, when a small group of volunteers in Monmouth began a support group to help local people who were experiencing hardship or isolation. Bridges which began in a small church, found its new home to Grade II listed building, Drybridge Hou
se in 2003, which was renovated after years of hard work in fundraising. The organisation has 14 trustees and approximately 20 members of paid staff including the Centre Director, Deputy Director and Project Coordinators. Bridges is an independent charity operating from its base in Monmouth which:
- Is a hub for the community which provides services and activities for social, recreational, educational and support groups.
- Enables projects and enterprises to develop in a supportive environment.
- Preserves and maintains an important an important Grade II listed building which hosts community, corporate and wedding events. Bridges provides the following activities and services:
• Social meetings and learning, creativity and health-related recreation;
• Venue and room hire for events and weddings ;
• Stable and studio hire for business accommodation;
• Local complementary health practitioners from Monmouth Natural Health Centre. Bridges is based in a building full of character and continues to have a deep and wide reaching impact, on the people who volunteer here; those that use its facilities and organisations that also help the community they are based in.
