The Raft Race Can’t Run - But We Can Still Raise Funds

Our Raft Race event, planned for 6th September, has been cancelled due to low water levels, leaving St David’s Hospice Care facing a loss of vital fundraising income.

Although cancelling the event was the only safe and responsible decision, it means St David’s Hospice Care will miss out on vital funds that we had hoped to raise through the event.

Every year, our Raft Race brings together teams, families, volunteers and supporters for a brilliant day on the river—all while raising money to help St David’s Hospice Care provide free, specialist care and support to patients and their families across our local communities.

The rafts may not be taking to the water this Sunday, but together we can still make a difference to Hospice Care.

If you were planning to take part, attend the event or simply cheer from the riverbank, please consider donating what you can. Whether it’s £5, £10 or the cost of the refreshments you might have enjoyed on the day, every donation will help us recover some of the income lost through the cancellation.

Your support will help ensure that local patients and their families can continue receiving compassionate hospice care when they need it most.

Rotary Monmouth will be there, but it looks like there's a lot else to see and do. Come to see us to perhaps win a hamper, practice your basketball and see what else we do.

If you are going to the Monmouth Show next Sunday please pay the Rotary Monmouth’s Gazebo a visit.
It will be manned all day to give any one who wants it an insight into what Rotary Monmouth does. We will also have someone who has first hand experience of what Rotary is doing in the Ukraine
There is also raffle tickets on sale with the chance of a double prize, firstly a prize on the day and secondly a chance to win our annual Community draw.
And not to forget the children there will be a chance for them to try their hand at Basketball and a variety of other games.

Members and guests enjoyed an evening of fellowship in Bar 125 on July 1st. President Bill for 2025-26 handing over to President Chris for 2026-27. Bill asked those present to remember Phil and Pete who are sadly no longer with us and reflected on the achievements of the past year. These included a helping Monmouth Sports Association with a grant to recover from the disastrous flooding last November, raising funds for humanitarian aid to Ukraine and successful events including a celebration of 75 years of Rotary in Monmouth on May 28th, the Monmouth Raft Race, Town Bonfire, Santa's Sleigh and Walk the Wye Challenge.
President Chris thanked Bill and reflected on the challenges faced by the Club principally the need to attract new members to ensure the club can serve the community for the foreseeable future.
