WOW! What an incredible 5 weeks of WACKY we have had.
📸Have a look through our pics and see if you can spot yourself or your friends/family!

Over the past 5 weeks we have been jam packed with activities, exploring and healthy foods/ Cooking lessons.

During this time we also had the pleasure of hosting a Gold Residential group who helped out on sessions (the other half of this group was busy doing Canal and Conservation).

Activities we have done:
🏹Archery 🚣Canoeing 🖌️Arts & Crafts 🔥Bushcraft 🥘CampCooking 🧭Orienteering & Museum Exploring 👣Canal Walk

Food we cooked and ate:
🌭BBQ 🥔Jacket Potatoes & homemade cowboy beans 🥖Pasta Bake & Garlic Bread 🫓Fajitas 🧀Lasagne 🍛Curry & rice

We have had a blast this summer and we can't wait to see you all again in the next holiday!

📸Over the past few weeks we have had hundreds of photos/videos captured from our wildlife cameras which were kindly donated by The Kirklees Adventure Trust

Anyone got any ideas on what we should name our animals?? We have:
4x foxes 🦊
4x Badgers 🦡
3x (could be more!) Deer 🦌
2x cats 🐱- if these are your cats we would love to know their names!

We will keep monitoring the cameras and updating what we find!

We’re looking for two Recreational Leaders (Outdoor Learning) to join the team, based at Little Deer Wood Activity Centre, Mirfield. In beautiful woodland surroundings, you’ll help deliver exciting opportunities for schools, young people, community groups and charities, inspiring participants of all ages and abilities to develop confidence, skills and a love for the outdoors.

🏹 Lead activities such as bushcraft, archery, walking, canoeing and/or climbing.

🥾 Deliver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programmes, expeditions and residentials.

💚 Support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities through inclusive activities.

🌱Help develop and grow the opportunities offered by the Outdoor Learning Team.

🤝 Work as part of a passionate, supportive team committed to making a difference

Post A
⏰ Hours - 30 hrs(working 5 days a week between April-September and 3 days a week between October - March), will include some weekends, evening and occasional sleep-ins.

Post B
⏰ Hours - 18.5hrs annualised - will include some weekends, evenings and occasional sleep-ins.

If you thrive in the outdoors, have a relevant qualification, experience of working with children and/or young people including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and want to help create life-changing experiences for young people and communities, we’d love to hear from you. 🌱

The reason we are called Little Deer Wood has finally been caught on our Wildlife Cameras!

Everybody, meet the latest deer to roam our woodland 🦌. Thanks to Kirklees Adventure Trust's funding we are able to put these wildlife cameras up all around our woods.

Over spring we have left our woodland to be as natural as possible, encouraging native flowers and supporting naturally occurring ecosystems. Keep a watch over the summer months to see what other wildlife we have down here at Little Deer Wood.
