On Sun 1st November, experience an uplifting afternoon of Indian classical music 🎵✨

GemArts return to Middlesbrough Town Hall for another Classical Café, spotlighting two exceptional young artists whose talent and dedication are shaping the future of the art form.

Ali Hashim is an emerging tabla player steeped in the rich musical heritage of the Punjab gharana. Subhan is a remarkable 16‑year‑old multi‑instrumentalist who will be performing on sitar.

Concert 3-4pm. Tickets £8 including booking fee / free for under 16s.

Today we had two special performances of Carnival of the Animals as part of their Summer Reading Challenge Awards! 📚🎵💃

The show included storytelling accompanied by pieces from composer Camille Saint-Saëns’ musical suite, alongside interpretive dance.

Thank you to our wonderful performers - storyteller David, dancer and pianist Alison for bringing the show to life.

And thank you to the lovely library staff for their support!

Our ensemble offers music making for young musicians aged 16-25 who identify as d/Deaf, Disabled or neurodivergent.

All musical instruments and abilities are welcome. You will need to bring your own instrument with you (unless you play piano or drums).

Led by Ben Hopkinson, the group runs on Thursdays during term time, 4.30pm – 6pm at Middlesbrough Town Hall. Sessions are free to attend.

Young Producers is a group for 15-21s who would like to develop their skills in the music and events sector and plan a live event with guidance from industry experts.

"I met with other young people, musicians...and together we planned and organised Battle of the Bands...they gave me a chance to do what I love to do."– Young Producers participant

This year, we’re running Young Producers in partnership with Tees Music Alliance, and the final event will take place at The Georgian Theatre, Stockton in March 2027.

Led by two professional music leaders, the sessions are friendly, relaxed and built around the participants’ needs.

We have places available for singers, keyboardists and bassists at Bandjam for ages 8-17.

Sessions run Tuesday evenings at Middlesbrough Town Hall and our next term starts 1st September.

📚 Read to the beat at Central Library! 🎷

As part of the Summer Reading Challenge, Middlesbrough Central Library is teaming up with Musinc.

Children, aged 5-12, will have the chance to play with instruments and explore how we can tell stories through music.

The session takes place at Central Library on Friday 21 August between 10.30am and 11.30am. It’s free to attend but booking is essential.
