Excellent opportunity from Candle & Bell!

Candle & Bell are looking for a director to direct a 12 minute short for BBC3.

The film is set in the North East of England, so we are looking for a North East based director. The ideal candidate has a strong track record in directing narrative films and wants to pursue a career in TV. You may have made some short films that have screened at BAFTA qualifying festivals and you’re looking for a step up, or you have already directed some TV and you’re looking for a new challenge in scripted TV.

This opportunity is not suitable for students or filmmakers who do not have a demonstrable track record in short form or TV.

The role is paid and the final film will air on BBC3 and then move to iPlayer.

If you’d like to apply, please send a one page CV of your most recent credits, along with two complete examples of your work (this could be an entire film or an episode of TV) to [email protected]. Please put ‘Director for Long Story Short’ in the subject line. Closing date for applications is the 14th of April 2025.

Tonight! OUTSIDER ARTS FAIR 2024: NEWCASTLE

Taking place at The Punch Bowl (NE2 1JY), doors open from 18:00 upstairs.
This is a free event, and open to all, but any donations are encouraged to enable future events and projects.

The Newcastle Edition of the Outsider Arts Fair is a showcase of short films, music videos, poets, and live music.
