We are a riding centre and group member of the Riding for the Disabled Association, based in Middlesbrough.

Along with lessons for disabled and non-disabled riders, our indoor and outdoor arenas are available to hire at selected times 7 days a week. The Centre works across the spectrum of disabilities, age range, social status and environments. Our focus is to ensure that each individual is given the chance to derive a direct therapeutic benefit and the opportunity to achieve their full potential; whether that be sitting with support astride a pony and riding down one side of the arena or competing at Paralympic dressage level. The Unicorn Centre is a member group of the national Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), (although is autonomous in its own right as a separate, independent, registered charity) and as such shares three principal objectives;

• Developing and supporting opportunities for therapy.
• Developing and supporting opportunities for achievement.
• Enabling physical activity and enjoyment. The Unicorn Centre gives all its riders the opportunity to reach therapeutic goals and personal ambitions, to develop life skills and often to combat social isolation. Riders are also encouraged to develop a caring attitude and to connect with our wonderful and specially trained horses and ponies, without whom the Centre could not deliver its valuable service. The Unicorn Centre has six core values, which underpin all our activities:

• To provide a high quality service in all it does
• To value the input of people at all levels and to be positive about their achievements – whether as a rider, volunteer, learner or staff member
• To emphasise the importance of training and achievement for all riders, volunteers, learners and staff members
• To value the input of participants in deciding its future
• To be accessible to all – whether as a rider, learner or as a volunteer
• To be professionally run, communicating openly at all levels and to be financially transparent

We cannot wait for you all to see our spooky arena! Our volunteers and staff have worked so hard to transform the space into a Halloween grotto- or should that be 'grotty?!'

A very special thank you to the Freemasons of Yorkshire, North & East Ridings!
We are absolutely delighted to welcome a wonderful new horse to the Unicorn Centre, made possible by an incredibly generous donation from the Freemasons.
It's no secret that we've faced some challenging times recently, and support like this really does mean the world to us.
Finding horses with the right temperament, patience and ability to work safely with disabled riders is incredibly difficult. These special horses really are few and far between, so we feel exceptionally lucky to have found him!
For our riders, horses offer so much more than riding lessons. They bring confidence, independence, friendship, joy and a sense of achievement that can be truly life-changing.
At a time when things have been tough, this wonderful act of generosity has given us something very special to celebrate and will make a lasting difference to the children and adults who come through our doors.
From everyone at the Unicorn Centre, thank you to the Freemasons for helping us continue doing what we love and making such a meaningful difference to our riders' lives.
We can't wait for you all to meet our newest member of the Unicorn family!
