Happy 80th Birthday to a true aviation icon—the **de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk**!
First taking to the skies on May 22, 1946, this legendary trainer taught generations of military and civilian pilots how to fly. With its sleek lines, crisp handling, and iconic canopy, the "Chippy" remains a beloved favorite in the warbird community today.
Here’s to eight decades of loops, rolls, and pure flying joy. Clear prop! 🇨🇦🇬🇧

A huge thank you to Lt Col James Crawford (Retd), REME, who has become a Platinum Member of the Museum.

James’ motivation to support the Museum was inspired by his lifelong connection to Army aviation, from family links to a career combining aircraft engineering and flying roles.

For him, the Army Flying Museum embodies this entire journey, preserving the aircraft, personal stories, and shared history of British Army aviation, while continuing to inspire future generations of soldiers, aircrew, and technicians.

Last week, James visited the Museum to receive his special Platinum Membership gift in recognition of his support.

Why not become Member of the Museum and help preserve the story of British Army aviation for generations to come? Find out more 👉 https://bit.ly/4d5yZap
