We were delighted to host Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust’s stroke team on Wednesday 13th May at Riverside Activity Zone for an important patient engagement event.

Patients from across Hampshire shared their experiences of stroke care - from A&E through to community support - helping shape future services in a meaningful way.

A key theme was the need for ongoing support, with many describing a "cliff edge" when formal care ends. Sessions like this highlight just how vital continued rehabilitation and community support are 💙

🌟 Huge congratulations to Tia Fisher CMgr! 🌟

We’re incredibly proud of Tia, our Assistant Manager at Riverside Activity Zone, for completing her Level 5 Operational/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship with Heart of England Training - and achieving a Distinction, the highest possible grade.

Tia has shown exceptional dedication throughout her 2.5‑year journey, balancing study and work while growing in confidence and capability. Achieving a degree‑level qualification and officially adding letters after her name is a milestone she describes as “a dream come true,” and we couldn’t be prouder to have supported her along the way.

Well done Tia - this achievement is truly deserved, and we’re excited to see what you do next!

Who knew First Aid training could look this entertaining? 😄

Some of our Valley Leisure team members and volunteers recently took part in First Aid training. Judging by the photos, there was plenty of learning… and quite a few bandages involved!

Thankfully the bandages were all part of the training (and not because anyone actually needed them), but it’s safe to say everyone had a great time picking up some important life-saving skills along the way.

A big thank you to Community First and First Response First Aid Ltd for making the training so engaging – proof that First Aid training doesn’t have to be boring! 👏

Usually Chelsea is the one writing the posts (yep, that includes this one!)… but today she’s in one of them! 😄

The team at Love Andover featured our Marketing Manager Chelsea in their People of Andover series, sharing why she loves being part of the fun at Valley Leisure.

It involves lots of laughter, a bit of chaos, and plenty of families making memories 💛

Take a read below!

PEOPLE OF ANDOVER 💛
Meet Chelsea.

“My name’s Chelsea, and I’m the Marketing Manager at Valley Leisure Ltd.
I love working here because it’s about people. Everyone really cares. You feel that the moment you walk in. It’s not just a job — it’s a place where people genuinely want others to have a good time.”

Chelsea is based at Riverside Activity Zone, where there’s no shortage of things to do.

“We’ve got bowling, laser tag and the X Cube, which is a digital escape room with loads of different experiences. It works for all ages, which I love.”

But for Chelsea, it’s not really about the activities themselves.
It’s about what happens around them.

“You see families come in together and leave talking over each other about what they did.”

That moment — the laughter, the excitement, the shared experience — is what makes the job special.
“The best bit for me is watching people leave smiling. Families, friends, kids, grandparents… all having shared something together.

Sometimes it’s noisy. Sometimes it’s chaotic. But it’s happy chaos.”

And in the middle of all that fun, Chelsea knows something simple but powerful is happening.

“Knowing we’ve helped someone have a good afternoon, or make a memory they’ll talk about later — that’s what makes it special.”

— Chelsea
