Did you know June is Pride Month?

Everyone experiences the challenges of dementia in their own individual way. Being LGBTQ+ and having dementia can bring other additional challenges, and we want everyone who is living with dementia in the LGBTQ+ community to know that you are not alone.

Support and advice are available, and there are services and care settings designed to support you.

With temperatures set to rise, the UK Health Security Agency has issued a Yellow Heat-Health alert for our region from 3pm on 17 June 2026 to 8pm on 22 June 2026.

Stay safe with these top tips from the NHS:

👋 Keep a close eye on older people, young children, and people with long term health conditions – their bodies can struggle to cope with the heat.

🏖️ Keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm and plan ahead to avoid being out in the heat.

🧴Wear sunscreen, a hat, and light clothes, and avoid strenuous exercise or activity that makes you hotter.

🚰 Cool yourself down. Have cold food and drinks, avoid alcohol and caffeine.

🏡Keep your living space cool. Close windows during the day and open them at night – if it safe to do so.
