The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse A Men's Wellbeing Group trying to end the stigma and support the men in our community This group was launched by me, Grant Donnelly, in February 2024.

I am 35 years old, work within the Civil Service, and have a wife (Lorna) and two daft weans! You are probably wondering why am I doing this.....,

The reality is that like most of us I have experienced the impact that the challenges of life can have on men and barriers that stigma creates. I have friends and family who have completed or attempted su***de, fought and died to addiction, and others

who have dealt with depression and other mental health conditions. I won't tell these stories publicly, it is often not my story to tell, but having been involved in community groups since I was old enough to drink I know everyone has a story but they don't have an outlet to share their struggle. The Clubhouse is that outlet. I am that friend who will ask the question 'How are you?'......but then ask 'How are you really?'. I don't market myself as an expert, nor saint, I am just willing to ask questions that men often refrain from asking. That's how I will start the conversation at The Clubhouse. I invite all men in the community to be part of the conversation with me.

We met on Tuesday on what was a braw Scottish night.

We were chatting on various topics that impact our daily lives alongside the usual laughs and jokes.

Last night we met at the Taj in Prestwick.

It was a great night with a lovely meal and some good chat!

Hi folks!

The award for the worst ran Facebook account goes to me.

We have been back in action recently with some familiar faces at the meetings.

We met again last night in our temporary location of the Mauchline and District Kilmarnock Supporters Club.

Our next event will be a trip to the driving range for us to try some golf whilst also creating a space to share what's going on in our lives

On Tuesday we had our first meeting of the New Year!

We are temporarily moving to the Mauchline & District Kilmarnock FC Supporters Club for the next wee while.

Meetings will still take place at 7pm.

The next meeting is on 20 January.
