Tpas England

Tpas England Tpas promotes excellence in resident involvement & empowerment through training, advice & accreditation.

Our membership is made up of over 340 social housing landlords, covering over 3 million homes. By informing tenants how to challenge, influence and control how their housing services are delivered, we can improve tenants’ quality of life and help landlords operate more effectively and efficiently. As one of the first organisations to specialise in tenant involvement at a national level, we’ve been

leading the way ever since; successfully joining up government policy with front-line service delivery and grassroots tenants’ groups.

Our very own Kai Jackson wrote a powerful piece exploring the gap between policy and lived experience, where too many social housing tenants still feel ignored, unheard, and undervalued.

Kai argues that while stronger consumer regulation and Awaab’s Law are reshaping social housing, many ethnic minority tenants still feel unheard, excluded and mistrusted within housing systems.

With new legislation aiming to strengthen tenant voice and accountability, the challenge now is turning words into meaningful change

Thank you Red Brick for featuring Kai's work.

In honour of Pride Month, we're reminding everyone of this excellent opportunity, the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge – a free accreditation scheme by HouseProud-LGBT and Stonewall Housing.

The scheme is designed to help landlords, housing providers and accommodation services create more inclusive, welcoming and supportive environments for LGBTQ+ people.

The Pledge encourages organisations to review their practices, improve understanding of LGBTQ+ housing experiences, and demonstrate their commitment to equality and inclusion.

By taking part, housing providers can help ensure everyone has access to safe, respectful and inclusive housing.

📖 Find out more about the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge and how to get involved via the link in the comments below.

Tpas welcomes the appointment of Kate Dodsworth as Deputy Chief Executive of the Regulator of Social Housing.

Kate has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the strengthened consumer regulation framework, helping to place the experiences of tenants firmly at the heart of regulatory oversight. Her leadership has come at a time when the sector is rightly placing greater emphasis on accountability, transparency and the quality of services residents receive.

As the sector continues to adapt to the new consumer regulatory landscape, it is essential that tenant voice remains central to how landlords understand performance, shape services and drive improvement. Regulation can set expectations, but lasting change happens when residents are genuinely listened to, involved in decision-making and able to influence the services that affect their lives.

Kate has been a strong advocate for understanding the lived experiences behind the data and ensuring that the intent of consumer regulation translates into real improvements for tenants. As the sector continues its journey towards a more accountable and resident-focused culture, this perspective will be invaluable.

We look forward to continuing our positive relationship with Kate and colleagues at the Regulator of Social Housing and to working together to ensure that tenant voice is not only heard, but actively shapes the future of social housing.

On behalf of everyone at Tpas, I congratulate Kate on her appointment and wish her every success in this important role.
Jenny Osbourne, CEO
