Brilliant news! After a hard 3 day drive Graham Cox has arrived in Ukriane. He's been unloading the van that Malvern Rotary Club filled with formula milk and medical supplies - thanks to the generosity of the residents of Great Malvern and in particular the congregation of Great Malvern Priory! The formula milk is being given to mothers and babies at the Gift of Life refuge, where they are sheltering from the war.

Many thanks to the residents of Clarence Park retirement village, who, on Oct 6th, welcomed Malvern Rotary's President Julie MacLusky, to give a presentation: 'Encounters with the famous: from David Schwimmer to Lauren Bacall'. Residents enjoyed the talk enough to donate enough money to pay for 18 tins of formula milk, which are now on their way to mothers and babies living in refuges in Ukraine!

Thanks to Malvern Rotarians and guests for a brilliant fundraiser last night. We filled a van with formula milk and medical supplies, including a 'GetMet' device which locates shrapnel in the wounded. These supplies left Malvern last night and are being driven over to Ukraine, then delivered to surgeons and mothers' refuges by Wednesday.

Thanks must go to the congregation of Great Malvern Priory, who generously dropped off many tins of milk following an appeal made last Sunday.

On behalf of Great Malvern Rotary Club I'd like to thank Eastnor Racehorse trainer Matt Shepherd for a brilliant talk last night - great to hear about his progress from stable lad to training steeplechasers and running his own yard.

Interesting to hear that a lack of water may impact the future of our great British race courses, plus the other challenges facing this industry.

We'll take him up on the kind offer to visit his stables and watch the horses at work, very soon. Meanwhile I also look forward to reading his excellent book - 'Confessions of a Slow Two-Miler'!

Thanks to Malvern Gazette for the great coverage of our club's annual Hills Access event.

Also to all the guests, volunteers, Eastnor Castle Landrover Experience and the lovely staff at the h20 cafe for making this such a fantastic day.

One lady hadn't been up the hill for 30 years. One gentleman said, after returning from the Beacon 'We live in a wonderful world, don't we?'

Something to remember.

'I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Malvern Rotary club for making yesterday possible, my residents throughly enjoyed their afternoon yesterday and all the staff were absolutely wonderful.

Kind regards,

Some guests of Malvern Rotary Hills Access shared this note of appreciation:

"I would like to thank you for arranging this trip for our residents once again this year.

Betty and Sally both had a wonderful and memorable time (as did I) and it was a pity that David dropped out at the last minute as I am sure her would have enjoyed it too. Betty told me that she "wouldn't have missed it for the world".

On Wednesday August 12th our brilliant Malvern Rotary club helped by volunteer friends and family hosted the Hills Access event.

Thanks to your efforts, over 28 residents of local care homes and people living with limited mobility were able to stand on top of the Worcester Beacon - many of them for the first time in decades.

The response to seeing the wonderful vistas was truly humbling.

A shout out goes to Eastnor Castle Landrover Experience, for providing the vehicle and driver; to the H20 cafe staff for opeing especially for us and providing delicious cake and refreshments for our guests; to the activity co-ordinators of the various care homes for helping get their residents signed up for this wonderful day out.

Many thanks to the Ukraine Freedom Company and our Satellite Club for organising a screening of the film '20 days in Mariupol' - it was a truly brilliant, memorable evening, reminding us of the terrible price paid by our Ukrainian friends for the war with Russia.

Funds were raised for distribution to mothers living in refuges near the border and for injured soldiers.
