My biggest lesson learned on camp?
Next time remember to stop and take a moment to get decent photos of the team who make it happen! 📷🤦♀️ Preferably together.
But that's the point really. We had such a strong and selfless team on camp that whenever you look round they are in action.
Thank you Ewa, Marcin, Dianne and Elliot for giving it your all, spotting every Beaver having a wobble, every 'spinning plate' about to drop, for your hours of thankless work and unfailingly positive attitude. I hope it feels worth it when you see how much the Beavers got from camp.
I should mention that Elliot isn't even from the 24th, but came to our aid when he heard we needed a permit holder and a venue. He volunteered the 86th as a venue and was exceptionally helpful. Giving up his Saturday night for us. They might not be 'his' Beavers, but as far as the Beavers are concerned he is 'their' Elliot.
24 plus 86 = 110. And Elliot gave 110%. 😁
Huge thanks also to Ash Hyde, Andy Morgan and Janette Daley for the process of getting our volunteers officially registered.
And especial thanks to Huw Daley for the help and guidance through the permit process, and for the following magic moment.
Huw arrives to carry out the assessment just as I'm in the throes of dealing with a Cub who took his shoes off and promptly stood on a bee. 🐝 One of the Beavers used his initiative and ran unprompted to fetch a first aid kit as a response to any incident.
Huw's classic response to this mild mayhem?
' I see you have a first Aid kit, good.' ✔️
( we also had an ice pack and a horde of eager Beavers fanning the patient with roll mats.😁)
