There’s still plenty of time, but now’s a good time to start putting your team together for our joint Valley Conservation Society & Tovil Repair Café Quiz Night! 🎉

Quizmaster Peter Jarvis of Carbon Action Tovil will be putting your knowledge to the test – so start thinking about who you want on your team! 🏆

Join the Valley Conservation Society for a lovely Autumn Walk through the picturesque Loose Valley on Saturday 10 October. 🌳🍁

🚶 Approx. 3 miles
📍 Meet: Hayle Manor, Cripple Street, Tovil, ME15 6DW
⏰ 10:00 am

Led by local guides and VCS members, the walk will explore VCS-managed land and the valley’s fascinating natural and architectural heritage, finishing at The Chequers Pub in Loose Village. Dogs are welcome too! 🐕

We’re looking for your best photos of Crisbrook Meadow and the surrounding Valley Conservation Area for the VCS 2027 Calendar – but the deadline is getting closer!

Have you captured a beautiful meadow scene, woodland view, pond, wildlife or landscape? We’d love to see it. And remember, your phone camera could be all you need! 📱

Valley Conservation Society and Tovil Repair Cafe are joining forces for a fun evening of questions, competition and plenty of laughs! 🎉

A reminder to all our members, visitors and local photographers: we’re still looking for your photos of Crisbrook Meadow and the Valley Conservation Area!

Your photo could appear in our 2027 Valley Conservation Society calendar. 🌄📷

Phone photos are absolutely welcome – just make sure they are clear, high quality and preferably landscape (wider than tall). Photos of the meadow, ponds, woodland, wildlife and surrounding countryside are all welcome.

🌿 Making a home for wildlife! 🐞🦔

Our VCS workparty has been busy over the last couple of weeks building dead hedges near Crisbrook pond.

Made from branches, wood and foliage, these natural barriers are a great way to recycle material while creating shelter and homes for insects, birds and small mammals. As the material slowly breaks down, it also returns nutrients to the soil. 🌱

A simple idea, but a great boost for biodiversity!

🌿 Didn’t We Have a Lovely Time? 💃🕺

More than 70 people joined us yesterday afternoon for our Summer Barn Dance in the beautiful surroundings of Hayle Place. With glorious warm weather, a fantastic atmosphere and lively music from Abby’s Ceilidh Band, it was wonderful to see so many people up on their feet, joining in the dancing and enjoying themselves.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a memorable afternoon.
