THE ARMY CADET FORCE (ACF) is one of the UK’s oldest, largest and most successful youth organisations, Consisting of more than 47,000 cadets in around 1,700 local detachments across the country, the ACF helps young people between the ages of 12 and 18 develop both personally and physically by providing a range of opportunities, challenges and activities, We have a long and proud history of preparing youngsters for all walks of life and encouraging an active involvement in local communities. The ACF is not a recruiting tool for the Armed Forces but seeks to promote a sense of understanding of what the Armed Forces' roles and responsibilities are. We develop young people physically and mentally, improving self-confidence, teamwork, friendship and leadership through a wide diversity of fun, exciting and adventurous opportunities. We also aim to develop a sense of community in our cadets.

Rain or shine, they deliver! Last weekend, our County Shooting Team braved harsh weather conditions to compete in the National Skill at Arms Meeting 2026. Demonstrating outstanding teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship, the team truly did our county proud. Congratulations to Bdr Read, Bdr Simon, LCpl Pixley-Young, and LBdr Gillam for their hard work and resilience under pressure.

Senior cadets and CFAVs from Kent braved storm Austen this weekend to deploy on fieldcraft exercise Kohima Tiger.

Developing and learning new fieldcraft skills. Culminating in a platoon attack on Sunday morning in much more favourable conditions.

The cadets and adults kept their morale up despite tough conditions and were a credit to the county.

As we approach Remembrance Day, our Fort Horsted cadets are proud to be supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

In detachment, we have been learning about the importance of remembrance, honouring those who have served and sacrificed, and understanding why we must never forget them.

By supporting the Poppy Appeal, our cadets are putting those lessons into action and showing their respect for our Armed Forces community.

We will remember them.

Well done everyone !

Last weekend’s ESQN camp saw cadets completing SAA, CIS, The Youth First Aid Certificate, and a full NCO Cadre.

We also had guests in attendance giving talks and supporting training including the Mayor of Medway and we would like to extend our thanks to them all for their important contributions.

Well done to every cadet you all had brilliant achievements throughout camp including promotions.

With thanks as always to the CFAVS who put so much hard work into the success of the weekend.
