Loose Amenities Association

Loose Amenities Association Events, news, announcements, pictures and more from the beautiful village of Loose, near Maidstone.

Loose Amenities Association is a registered charity (registration number 215701) which is run by its members for the benefit of Loose and the people who live here. One of our most important functions is to care for and improve the 21 acres of the Loose valley the Association owns. This beautiful area is a haven for wildlife and Loose residents alike and provides a green corridor from Boughton Monc

helsea to Tovil, where the Loose stream meets the Medway. We work with other local organisations to create a joined-up approach to the conservation of this important area.We also closely monitor planning applications in Loose and oppose those which we feel will have a negative impact. To raise funds for the work we undertake we organise fund raising events through the year and it’s possible that you have already enjoyed one or two of them as the Easter Egg Hunt, Duck Race, Scarecrow Festival and Carols Around the Christmas Tree are firm favourites on the Loose calendar. All of this is achieved by volunteers who care about where they live and want to make a difference. All the money we raise is ploughed back into Loose in one way or another, whether it be maintaining the woods and meadows of the valley, planting flowers and bulbs in public areas, funding and preparing expert reports to lobby for better conditions, financially supporting other local organisations with similar aims, erecting the huge Christmas tree and lights...and much more.

Thanks to everyone who came along to the LAA Music Night last Saturday! This year we went for a 60s theme, with music provided by the fabulous Denotones. Even a short downpour didn't dampen the spirits! Thanks to all the fabulous volunteers who organised and ran the event, and of course the owners of Vale House who kindly allowed us to use their beautiful gardens. All the money raised will allow us to continue our valuable work, caring for and protecting the beautiful Loose Valley.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Duck Race yesterday. Despite the soaring temperatures, the event was as well attended as always, and our takings for the day were even better than last year. Your generosity means that we can continue our work in the valley, taking care of it and keeping it safe from development for many more years to come.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped organise and run the event. Also to the police cadets, race sponsors and stall holders, and to Paul Mill (Matt Stephens Audio Visual) for his brilliant commentary throughout the day.

DUCK RACE DAY is fast approaching and it's going to be HOT. Please come prepared with water, sun lotion and hats.
