History of Recycling First

The Furniture Project was established in 1992 and operates as part of ELVON, the local Council for Voluntary Service, known as Recycling First Project.

With your help, Recycling First! makes a difference to people's lives across East Lothian by:

• Reusing and recycling furniture and appliances
• Helping fight furniture poverty
• Providing volunteers with experience and gaining new skills.

It doesn’t matter how much time you can give, even if it’s just a few hours each.

Retail & Operations:
We require help at our Warehousre. Any help welcome!

Van drivers and assistants:
Become a member of our van team driving our van to collect donations and action deliveries.

Store assistants:
Help out our busy stores by providing excellent customer service and arranging our products in store.

eBay and social media:
Help us expand our online operations by listing and dispatching items on eBay.

Trustees:
Join our Trustee board

We are delighted to share that Recycling First has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards:

Heartfelt Thank You from Recycling First.

We wish to express our sincere appreciation for your generous support and donations. Every contribution, whether large or small, plays a vital role in helping us achieve our mission: recycling items and providing essential household goods to families in need throughout our county.

Quarterly Highlights;
Thanks to your kindness and support, over the last month we have accomplished the following:
• Donated 142 items to 29 families.
• Supplied 69 starter packs to 16 families in need.
• Reused and diverted 6.24 tons of materials from landfill.

Your generosity truly makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support in helping to build a better community for everyone.
