The Dominican Sisters of St Joseph - called to praise, bless, and preach for the glory of God!

We serve the Church through a unique balance of contemplative prayer, monastic observances (enclosure, habit, silence...), sung liturgy, and study together with an active work of proclamation and teaching of the Catholic Faith in the light of the New Evangelisation. It is from our strong fraternal life of contemplation and observances that we are enabled to carry out our apostolate as a community.

Happy feast of Saint Simon and Saint Jude, Apostles!
O God, who by the blessed Apostles
have brought us to acknowledge your name,
graciously grant,
through the intercession of Saints Simon and Jude,
that the Church may constantly grow
by increase of the peoples who believe in you.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

CERTIFICATE IN CATECHESIS: YEAR 1 IN-PERSON DAY: We had a fantastic day yesterday in Wi******er meeting our Year-1 students on our Certificate in Catechesis course for the first time! Thank you so much to everyone who attended, both physically and via zoom. It was a joyful day of delving deeper into the vocation of the catechist, drawing inspiration from catechist saints, as well growing in fellowship together and spending time with the Lord in Mass and in personal prayer. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did!

CLIFTON DIOCESE CATECHISTS DAY: Last Saturday Sr Hyacinthe, Sr Catherine and Sr Amata were delighted to join catechists from across Clifton Diocese for a day of formation and fellowship in Bath! A particular highlight was witnessing students who completed our Light of Truth Certificate in Catechesis this summer receive an award and to be commissioned in their ministry for the diocese by Bishop Bosco. We are so grateful to Sarah Adams; it is a joy to be collaborating and supporting each other in the work of spreading the Gospel.

While in Leicester, the sisters also ran a Friday evening session for those interested in finding out more about the mission of catechesis! Sr Lucy led two talks on the vocation of the catechist and how the catechism can be used in catechesis. We were touched that many attendees travelled from different cities in Nottingham diocese to be there!
For those interested in receiving catechist formation, in December we are running the Essential Training for Catechists course: https://www.lightoftruth.uk/event-details/essential-training-for-catechists-2026-12-05-09-00
