Access to healthcare in Haiti remains limited across parts of the Artibonite region. Insecurity and transportation disruptions can make it difficult for patients to reach services and for healthcare facilities to replenish essential supplies.

IHP has been working in partnership with HOPE International Development Agency - UK to ensure that patient care is maintained with high-quality donated medical supplies.

Dr. Faustin Charles, explained that the impact of these donated supplies, supports a connected chain of care throughout the hospital: “The different types of syringes we received are used daily across several hospital departments. These medical supplies are indispensable to the smooth operation of our hospital and to providing safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.”

📦 In August, we delivered 44 pallets of essential medicines and medical supplies to support frontline healthcare facilities in South Sudan, Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Venezuela, North Macedonia and Ukraine.

Strengthening medicine stocks across these settings is more urgent than ever. Demand continues to outpace supply, leaving many people without access to the treatments they depend on. From oncology medicines and treatments for non-communicable diseases to vital medical supplies, these resources help healthcare workers provide care in some of the world's most challenging environments.

Today, on World Patient Safety Day, we're reflecting on a simple truth: patient safety starts with access. 💙

In many of the communities where IHP works, conflict, displacement and fragile health systems can make it difficult for people to access the medicines they need. When treatment is delayed or interrupted, health outcomes can suffer. That's why we work with partners to help essential, quality-assured medicines reach people facing the greatest barriers to care.

Access to healthcare should not depend on where you live.

Isabella is from a small rural town in southwestern Honduras. When she began experiencing skin lesions, she felt weak and drained, with limited access to the care she needed.

Through our partnerships with local in-country teams, including HOPE International Development Agency, our medicines are helping restock rural clinics and bring essential care closer to communities. “For those of us who live in remote communities and don’t have many resources, receiving this kind of support means more than just treatment. In my case, it not only improved my health but also restored my confidence and peace of mind.” Through partnerships like these, more people can access the care they need, closer to home. 💙

Gaza Response Update: We are pleased to share that a shipment of vital medicines arrived in Gaza with our partner International Medical Corps at the end of last week.

This highly anticipated shipment contains enough medicines to support more than 26,400 people, including medication for primary healthcare needs, non-communicable diseases, pain relief, and fungal infections.

We are hugely grateful to our partners who continue to provide care and access to healthcare in Gaza under extremely challenging circumstances.

Healthcare access remains severely constrained, and medicine stocks have become critically depleted. We currently have additional shipments enroute, including essential antibiotics and other life-saving medicines.

Venezuela Update: 36 Essential Health Packs have now arrived in Venezuela with our partner Project HOPE.

In the aftermath of June's devastating earthquakes, these EHPs will help ensure communities can continue accessing vital healthcare when they need it most.

From medicines for long-term conditions to treatments for common infections, these supplies are designed to support people through the challenges of recovery. We hope they bring not only practical relief, but also a reminder that communities facing crisis are not alone.
