Visit http://wilpf.org.uk to find out more about our branch. Aims and Principles

- To bring together women of different political beliefs and philosophies who are united in their determination to study, make known and help abolish the causes and the legitimization of war;
- To work toward world peace; total and universal disarmament; the abolition of violence and coercion in the settlemen

t of conflict and their substitution in every case of negotiation and conciliation; the strengthening of the United Nations system; the continuous development and implementation of international law; political and social equality and economic equity; co-operation among all people; and an environmentally sustainable development.
- Believing that under systems of exploitation these aims cannot be attained and a real and lasting peace and true freedom cannot exist, WILPF makes it one of its missions to further by non- violent means the social and economic transformation of the international community. This would enable the establishment of economic and social systems in which political equality and social justice for all can be attained, without discrimination on the basis of s*x, race, religion, or any other grounds whatsoever.

WE NEED YOUR HELP. THIS IMPACTS ALL OF US.

There is growing discussion around the possible return of military conscription or compulsory national service in the UK. Conscription would remove choice from young people at a critical stage of their lives and place them into military service against their will.

We call on the UK government to:
🕊️ Rule out any future conscription, mandatory national service, or registration in the UK
🕊️ Protect the rights of conscientious objectors who refuse military service

Join our upcoming webinar on Tuesday 2nd June at 7pm (UK time) raising the voices of millions of African women; warning that wars, extractivism and militarism are drowning out promises of peace and justice; exacerbating violence, particularly against women; and dehumanising and destroying the environment in Africa.

Our guest speaker is Marie-Claire Faray, an activist and a Freelance Consultant on the contextualisation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda in the DR Congo, where she has established a Women Peace and Security centre for women. She has edited, published and contributed to various articles and reports on human security and women’s rights in Africa.

We hope to see you there!

We are deeply concerned by growing discussion around the possible return of military conscription or compulsory national service in the UK.

We are calling on the UK government to rule out any future introduction of conscription in any form.

We are deeply concerned by growing discussion around the possible return of military conscription or compulsory national service in the UK.

Conscription would remove choice from young people at a critical stage of their lives and place them into military service against their will.

We believe:
- No one should be forced to join the military.
- The rights of conscientious objectors should be protected.
- Public resources should not be directed toward compulsory military service during a cost-of-living crisis
- Military service involves profound moral consequences, it should always remain a voluntary decision.

We are calling on the UK government to rule out any future introduction of conscription in any form.

A number of our members are attending the March for Palestine today commemorate the Nakba. For 78 years, Palestinians have been subjected to a racist system of oppression including ethnic cleansing, settler-colonialism, apartheid and genocide.  We reaffirm our commitment to the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including the refugees’ right to return home. 🕊️
