We wrote to the new government to share our feminist perspective on the need for a just transition away from fuels.

The fossil fuel industry is at the root cause of the climate crisis. In addition, continuing fossil fuel dependence perpetuates ongoing systems of patriarchy, colonialism, militarism and exploitation. From WILPF’s feminist perspective, we are painfully aware that women are among those most affected, and bear the heaviest burdens from fossil fuel extraction and pollution. And fossil fuels fuel conflict. From wars over oil to militarised fossil fuel extraction sites, fossil fuel dependence and structural violence are intertwined.

Join us! 8pm on Wednesday 26th August for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing followed by Q&A discussion.

This film brings together the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis, and what it means for the UK. It is intended to be watched together in communities, encouraging responses proportionate to the crisis.

The National Emergency Briefing, held at Westminster Central Hall on 27th November 2025 and attended by over 1,200 MPs, peers and leaders from across UK society, brought together senior experts to present a clear, evidence-based account of the risks facing the UK and the scale of response required. This public information programme works to ensure that both Parliament and the public are clearly and honestly briefed on the climate and nature crisis. This film extends that work to communities across the UK.

At a time when the Government seems determined to spend more public money on weapons and military defence (and much of England and Wales is suffering from drought and heatwaves) WILPF feels it is important to spread the word about what is really threatening our security and where investment should be going to tackle the impact of climate change on our communities.

Nuclear weapons were never designed to keep us safe. Their primary purpose is the capacity for destruction.

81 years on, the voices of the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are still the clearest testimony to what these weapons truly do.

Militarisation doesn’t protect us. Instead, it destroys lives, communities and the planet. It leaves consequences that last generations, however governments keep choosing weapons and destruction over people.

Join us on Tuesday 14 July at 7pm to discuss how we can work together to stop the arms fair!

WILPF UK are excited to be hosting Kirsten Bayes from and Alastair Binnie-Lubbock from to discuss the ways we can work collectively to try and stop the arms fair (DSEI) which is due to be taking place in London in September 2027.

DSEI is one of the world’s largest arms fairs which takes place every two years in the Excel Centre in London, showcasing weapons and tools for war and armed violence, often including banned equipment. Each year WILPF joins with other organisations to demonstrate our opposition to the escalation of arms supplies across the world and our objection to London’s role in platforming such an event.

We want to use this webinar explore ways we can mobilise to protest this event. We hope you will join us for this conversation which will be followed by Q&A.

Earlier this month we wrote to the UK Government – The Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary and Minister for the Middle East – to demand urgent action to challenge Israel’s activities in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.

Since then, the Prime Minister has resigned and the UN commission of inquiry has said Israel is committing genocide in Gaza by deliberately targeting children. The UK government should be ashamed and brought to justice for its complicity in this atrocity.
