UACES Awards 2026 Nominations are now open

This year the UACES Awards are expanding to celebrate the breadth of what our community contributes to academia and society. Over eight categories we'll recognise excellence in research and teaching to public engagement, EDI leadership and the community work that brings our field together.

The awards open for applications this year are:
• Best Book Prize
• Best PhD Thesis Prize
• Excellence in Teaching Award
• Mid‑Career Research Excellence Award
• Public Engagement and Impact Award
• Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award
• Contribution to European Studies Community Prize

We will also be awarding our highly prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award

Anyone can apply for the awards. You do not need to be a UACES member to submit an application, though eventual award recipients must be current UACES members.

Self‑application is warmly encouraged, with applications submitted by colleagues, supervisors or partners are equally welcome.

All winners receive formal recognition from UACES, including a commemorative award and certificate, three‑day attendance at the UACES 56th Annual Conference in Prague, and opportunities to share their work, including participation in the UACES Award Winner webinar series.

The final deadline for the UACES Graduate Forum Research Conference 2026 is this Friday, and we are encouraging our academic community to help ensure that students and early‑career researchers do not miss this opportunity.

If you supervise Masters students or PhD researchers, or work with early‑career scholars in your department, please consider sharing this call. Your networks play an important role in supporting emerging researchers and helping them access opportunities that develop their academic confidence and visibility.

We are already building a strong programme with contributions from emerging scholars across Europe, and spaces are still available. Submissions received this week will be reviewed promptly under our rolling process.

The conference will take place on 4 and 5 June at the Faculty of European Studies, Babeș‑Bolyai University, Cluj‑Napoca, Romania, and is shaping up to be one of our most engaging events yet.
