The same feeding round. The same waggy tails. The same love and care 💙

Our tuk-tuk might look a little different these days but our mission is the same: helping street cats and dogs thrive in the places they call home.

What started as an emergency feeding programme during the COVID-19 pandemic led to our daily Meals on Three Wheels service. We have since delivered thousands of meals to Sri Lanka's hungry street dogs and cats and, in 2025, we introduced our electric tuk-tuks.

With your support, we’re able to deliver love by the bowlful to animals who need it most. Thank you. We couldn’t do it without you.

Happy World Animal Day 🐾

Today, we're celebrating the animals who make our lives that little bit brighter – and the people who believe they deserve a life filled with love.

We feel incredibly lucky to have a whole community of animal lovers standing beside Sri Lanka’s street dogs and cats every single day.

From all of us at Team Dogstar, thank you for being one of them 💙

And he’s off! 🎉

Billy Dogstar has completed day one of his 100km challenge and is feeling pretty pleased with himself.

There was a slight hiccup with a chewed tracker (Billy insists he’s innocent) but it hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm. And what better way to start than an early morning trot round the beach yesterday?

We’ll keep you updated on Billy’s adventures throughout the month but it’s not too late to join him! Simply walk, run or jog 100km during October as part of Team Dogstar.

Sign up today and raise vital funds for street dogs and cats in Sri Lanka: https://dogstarfoundation.com/100km-in-october/

[Video description: Billy the dog can be seen emerging from some palm trees on the beach. His tongue is out and he's panting as he’s been running for a while. He’s also wearing a blue harness. Knowing Billy he’s likely searching for his post-run treat.]

Mango. The dog that changed everything 💙

20 years ago, Sam said yes to a monk and a dog in a temple courtyard. The next day, the idea of Dogstar was born.

Sam reflects on the last two decades and what it means to do things the Dogstar way: https://bit.ly/4yhiSOU

Thank you to everyone who wished us a happy birthday yesterday!

As well as some obligatory cake consumption, we reminisced about how far we’ve come – and just how many cats and dogs' lives have been changed, thanks to people like you.

Do you have a favourite Dogstar story from the last 20 years? Share yours in the comments below 👇

28/09/2026

Today, Dogstar turns 20! 🎉

It all started with one little dog called Mango in a temple courtyard.

Back then, we could never have imagined where she would lead us – or just how many wonderful people would join us along the way.

Because Dogstar has never been a story we’ve written alone.

Every dog fed. Every animal cared for. Every milestone celebrated. Every difficult moment we’ve made it through.

You’ve been there.

Your love for Sri Lanka’s dogs and cats has shaped Dogstar into everything it is today.

So this birthday belongs to you, Dogstar family.

Thank you for an incredible 20 years.

Here’s to the next chapter, together 💙

Did you know tomorrow is World Rabies Day?

Although rabies is very rare in the UK, it remains a deadly threat in many parts of the world, including Sri Lanka.

At Dogstar, we live with the reality of rabies daily, which is why prevention is central to everything we do. With your support, every animal we sterilise is also vaccinated against rabies, helping to protect them and the communities they live in.

Vaccinating dogs is the most effective way to prevent human rabies because it stops transmission at its source.

Through our Catch–Neuter–Vaccinate–Return (CNVR) approach, we're helping to build safe, stable and vaccinated free-roaming dog populations, reducing risk for everyone.

By vaccinating thousands of animals each year, supporting at-risk communities and training local veterinary teams, we’re helping to eliminate rabies in Sri Lanka.
