We are grateful for our global community who go above and beyond to raise awareness, advocate and actively make the world a better place for children. 2026 is proof, once again, that we are stronger together.

Boys suffer, too. Talk about sexual violence, support healing, and prevent abuse.

Strengthening families is prevention. Positive gender and social norms enable prevention and early detection.

Breaking: UINITED NATIONS Recognise Family for Every Child’s Leadership in Addressing Sexual Violence Against Boys in time for Blue Umbrella day 2026

A new statement from the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children, Dr Najat Maalla M’jid, shines a spotlight on the urgent and often overlooked issue of sexual violence against boys.

In her remarks, she highlights the barriers boys face in reporting abuse and accessing support, and recognises the important work of Family for Every Child in bringing this issue to global attention.

The statement marks a significant moment in the global recognition of sexual violence against boys: for the first time, a senior UN mandate holder has publicly recognised it as a global issue and strengthened the global call to ensure boys are recognised as victims, supported in their recovery, and included in policies and services.

This achievement reflects years of sustained advocacy by Family for Every Child and our global network of partners through the Blue Umbrella Day Campaign.
