We're always proud of our members for the work that they do in their communities.

First Step Cambodia (FSC) recently conducted a training that strengthened the knowledge and practical skills of children and youth leaders to recognise different forms of violence against children, to identify factors that may place children at risk, to help them understand how violence and abuse can be prevented. They also gained a clearer understanding of available reporting mechanisms and where to seek support when they become aware of child protection concerns.

This kind of training prepares children and young people to share child protection knowledge with their peers, meaning they can take a more active role in promoting safe and protective environments within their schools and communities.

This work supports children and young people to become changemakers, and recognises them as experts of their own experience!

Often, children can use their voices and participation to protect themselves, support their peers, and contribute to stronger child protection in their schools and communities. Their voices need to be heard!

Almost everything we do links back to strengthening families.

But, what does this mean?

We're a children's rights organisation. The best and most likely way for children's rights to be honoured and realised is if children grow up in, and are a part of, safe and loving families.

Families, in their diverse forms, play a central role for the growth, well-being and protection of children. A child’s right to be with their family, should always be prioritised, provided it is safe and in their best interest.

This is why we need policies and practice that support and strengthen families.

The details:
Family for Every Child is looking for a curious, entrepreneurial and highly collaborative Senior International Innovation Manager to lead innovation across our organisation and global network of 60+ local civil society organisations in more than 45 countries.

This is a new and exciting role, working directly with our CEO, with a broad remit to identify, test and scale new ideas that can strengthen our impact, sustainability and organisational effectiveness.

You’ll be responsible for turning promising ideas into practical solutions, experimenting, learning quickly and recognising when something works well enough to take further.

The role will include:

- Leading innovation projects from concept through to implementation
- Exploring how AI, digital technology and emerging trends can improve our impact and effectiveness
- Championing agile ways of working, experimentation and design thinking
- Developing new approaches to international collaboration and localisation
- Building partnerships and bringing colleagues, members and external partners with you
- Identifying what works, measuring impact and helping successful innovations become part of our mainstream work

We’re looking for someone who combines strong project management and change skills with curiosity, creativity and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Are you someone who is comfortable asking “what if?”, testing new approaches and learning from what doesn’t work? Then, you might be the person for the job.

The role is:
- Home-based in the UK, Kenya or India
- 2–3 days per week
- One-year fixed-term contract, with potential for renewal depending on strategic direction
- Flexible working across international time zones

Salary: c£55k depending on experience

You'll be reporting directly to our CEO

Good news alert!

Our network member Challenging Heights have rescued more children from forced labour in Ghana in the weekend. 18 boys and seven girls, aged between six and 14 are now safe at the Challenging Heights Recovery Centre, where they are receiving medical care, psychosocial support and the care they need to begin healing.

The rescue was carried out together with the Ghana Police Service’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and the Department of Social Welfare.

On 27 August, Family for Every Child and Lumos Foundation will be joining child protection leaders at the ISPCAN Rise Up Policy Forum in Melbourne! This conference brings together the brightest minds in child protection from every sector, to innovate and share best practices.

We'll be there to share new evidence from a recent global policy mapping across 21 countries, working to understand where kinship care is honoured in policies, and where best practice can be found.

Together, we'll explore how stronger laws and policies can better support kinship carers and help more children grow up safely in family care!

Our session "Caring for the Carers: The Case for a Cross-Sector Approach to Kinship Care", will feature:

Our focus? Helping our members on the frontline. Right now, urgent aid is needed in Colombia. Taller de Vida are faced with the aftermath of a devastating earthquake.

On 10 August, a powerful earthquake struck Colombia’s Coffee Region, causing devastating damage and deaths in Pereira and across Risaralda. Our member Taller de Vida work across the region and is on the frontline, directly helping children and families. Resources are scarce and they are calling for urgent support!

They are working hard to make sure that the emergency response includes psychosocial support, guidance and protection, helping to restore trust, strengthen support networks and prevent children’s rights violations in the aftermath.
