📣 Reproductive choice saves lives.

⭐ Contraception allows people to choose if, or when, to become pregnant – helping them to space their pregnancies, protect their health, and choose their own futures.

💙 Abortion access helps people safely terminate if they have health-related issues during pregnancy. And if someone doesn’t want to be pregnant, they can safely access healthcare rather than resorting to an unsafe abortion.

At MSI, we won’t stop fighting until everyone has reproductive choice. ✊

📢 We are delighted to share that MSI Reproductive Choices has received two grants from GiveWell – an independent research organisation dedicated to finding and funding the most impactful charities.

🚙 The first grant will support MSI's cost-effective mobile outreach teams to deliver contraception in Nigeria and Sierra Leone, reaching women who have no other access to this life-changing healthcare. GiveWell estimates that these mobile health teams are 10-14x as cost-effective as GiveWell’s benchmark for cost-effectiveness.

💊 The second grant will strengthen the last-mile distribution of family planning commodities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi and Zambia.

🩺 Spend the day with Ifeoma, a contraceptive nurse in rural Nigeria.

🚙 Ifeoma is part of a mobile outreach team – she travels to remote communities to provide reproductive healthcare. Without Ifeoma, many of the women in these villages would have no other way of getting contraception.

✨ Contraception is life-changing. It supports girls to stay in school. It helps women pursue careers. It is directly linked to gender equality and the power to drive change.

🌍 That’s why MSI is working around the world – from the UK to Uganda – to ensure that everyone, everywhere, can access reproductive choice.

openDemocracy reports that AI chatbots are blending information from real healthcare providers with content from anti-abortion groups – without making this clear to users.

At a time when AI chatbots are changing how many people access healthcare, this is concerning.

How has contraception changed Abida's life? In her own words ⬇️⬇️

"My mother had her first child when she was very young. If I didn’t have any contraception, I think my life would have been the same as my mum’s.

"Some of my friends dropped out of school because they got pregnant, and I didn’t want that for myself. I’m in a relationship, so I thought what can I do to prevent an unwanted pregnancy? I discussed with my friends what I should do, and they directed me to MSI.

"Contraception really helps you plan and achieve your goals in life. Two years ago, I opened my own shop. It feels really great to have something to call my own. Without contraception, I would be having kids by now. I don’t think I would be here with my own business."

✨ Abida’s plans don’t stop here. Her shop is a stepping stone to a bigger business where she can earn more money and cement her independence.

And MSI will be there for her, as she continues to make the reproductive choices that will support her future 💙
