Last week, the 500 latest trainees on Approach Social Work came together for three days of in-person teaching as they take the first steps on their social work journeys. It was a valuable opportunity for them to meet peers and begin building the foundations for practice.

A huge well done to our 2025 Progress Leadership participants for completing their final in-person training in Sheffield.

It was fantastic to see current and aspiring team managers in children's services come together to reflect on their learning and celebrate everything they've achieved throughout the programme.

We wish them all the very best for the next chapter of their leadership journey.

We are incredibly inspired by this year's Innovation programme participants. Our cohort is full of brilliant ideas, all driven by a shared dream of creating better outcomes for children.

So many of these projects are already creating a real impact, like Chichi’s project. Heritage International brings professionals together to provide early, confidential advocacy for families. Driven by the belief that everyone deserves the chance to achieve their dreams, Chichi offers guidance to help parents navigate challenges well before reaching a crisis point.

This is just one of the many exciting ideas our participants are developing on the programme, each bringing creative solutions to improve outcomes for children.

We will be rooting for every single one of them.

We're proud to support social workers to develop and test new ideas. Joe Briel's story shows what can happen when those ideas are given the space, support and funding to grow.

Through Frontline's Innovation programme, Joe developed ReWired: a programme helping young people with experience of care and children's social care access pathways into the creative industries. Since launching, ReWired has already worked with 60 young people through mentoring, training and paid work opportunities.

This work was recognised a few weeks ago when Joe received the 2026 Frontline Award for Innovation.

Children and young people are at the centre of everything we do. That’s why it was so special to celebrate inspiring young individuals at the Frontline Awards in London.

Kyle, Kitty and Gracie received a Frontline Award for Young People. Their joy and moving speeches absolutely stole the show and stayed with us long after the night ended.

It was also a deeply proud moment to see members of our Young People Advisory Board take to the stage as presentrers, helping us celebrate the dedicated professionals and other young people who support children across the country every single day. 🎉

Talking to some of the team who deliver Approach Social Work, at the recent graduation, is a reminder of how many different roles contribute to supporting children. But you don't have to be a qualified social worker to make a difference for children.

This summer, you can contribute to Frontline’s vital work by joining Stride Through Summer.

Join the movement of people walking 700,000 steps between 1 July and 31 August - one step for every child in England who needs a social worker.

The 2026 Frontline Awards brought together some of the most dedicated people working in children’s services and reminded us why their work matters.

The room was buzzing with energy and pride for the sector. Celebrating young people alongside professionals made it all even more special.
