🎉 Haringey Youth Festival 2026 🎉

Can you believe it? it’s that time of year again celebrating youth talent.

Returning for the 1️⃣4️⃣th year the incredible Collage Voices Haringey Shed Jacksons Lane & Streetz Ahead come together with singing, acting, dancing & spoken word performances.

This year’s focus is youth takeover and what a better space for that in but in Haringey Council Bruce Grove Youth Centre.

A brilliant day this weekend with our trustees, stepping back from day-to-day governance to think about the future.

Our Youth Forum led us through the agenda with brilliant, pre-recorded videos and managers shared a wide range of case studies to really help trustees get a feel for how we ensure every child is included in our activities and how we make a difference both through one-off projects and over multiple years with an individual child.

The board were introduced to our new season theme (to be announced shortly) which sparked some really energising and exciting conversations around potential projects and funding opportunities.

Young people left trustees with the challenge – to come and take part in a Haringey Shed activity themselves before 31 March 2027.

If anyone reading this would like to know more about Haringey Shed please contact us. We are always keen to hear from potential volunteers, new trustees, potential partners etc. We will invite you to come see what we are all about too!

Finally a huge thank you to Trustees and Managers for meeting on a Saturday and to for so generously allowing us to use their lovely office.

📣 Absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for the Inclusive London Award at the 2026 London Youth Awards.

We believe every young person, regardless of their ability, background or circumstance should have access to a safe, respectful and creative environment. ❤️

This is wonderful recognition of everyone who works so hard to make it possible from freelancers to families, project partners to our amazing volunteers and so many utterly brilliant young people. 👏

Those Who Shaped Us

As we prepare to launch our next season we just wanted to celebrate a selection of the alumni gallery from our 25th anniversary celebrations earlier this year.

We loved hearing so many stories; memories as young people, volunteering in Shed’s early days & celebrating achievements in the present. We couldn’t be prouder of our community!

🎭️ It’s yesterday and we’re celebrating the performers in the film ‘You’re So Real’.

🎥 📺️ In memory of Mia Janin the Sarah Jane Leigh Charitable Trust Lindy Goldkorn – SJLCT & Haringey Shed have created a film that addresses themes of anti-bullying, mental health, mobile phones and social media. It emphasises the importance of being kind to others and yourself, and identifying people you trust to talk to about your situation.

📒 Anti-Bullying Alliance and Haringey Shed have partnered to create a school resource pack to support KS2 and KS3 teachers using the film ‘You’re So Real’.

The resource pack explores themes relating to:

• Screen use and digital habits
• Online identity and authenticity
• Online bullying and digital wellbeing
• Wellbeing and mental health
• Peer relationships and social pressure
• Communication and empathy
• Asking for help and seeking support

The materials are designed primarily for KS2 (upper) and KS3 learners but include guidance to adapt them for younger or older students.

Before we get started with our new season of work we wanted to share this film from “Stand Up! Speak Out!” 📣

During Summer Term 2026, as part of The Joyce Butler Project, we worked with the University of Oxford and Bruce Castle Museum & Archive to produce creative responses to the life and legacy of Joyce Butler MP.

Through music, writing and performance, our Writers Room & Big Noise Choir brought the Joyce Butler archive to life and created a space where ‘everyone has a part to play’

Massive thank you to & Arts and Humanities Research Council for funding the project.

Thank you to all the incredible staff & partners who supported our young writers and singers on the project and to the supportive audience who joined us to celebrate.
