Haringey Shed

Haringey Shed Haringey Shed is an inclusive performing arts company for young people in Haringey Inclusion and education are at the heart of our ethos.

We are a unique community group and charity that provides theatre workshops and professionally produced performance opportunities with around 2000 children and young people in North and North East London each year. Our local community is one of the most culturally diverse in the UK and faces significant social and economic challenges. This means that we strive to work in ways that accommodate the

needs of all of our young people whatever their abilities, disabilities and backgrounds. Within our mutually supportive environment, we are able to create inspiring and exciting theatre and foster a wider vision of a world in which everyone learns and is acknowledged for the part they can play.

What a way to celebrate

P2S Pathways To Success were treated to a special performance today. They give so much of their time and energy to Shed, alongside our other brilliant volunteers and so it was a well deserved celebration.

Thank you for having us and for the invite.

Great to see friends &

In memory of Mia Janin and with gratitude to Mariano Janin .janin whose story was the inspiration for this project and to the Sarah Jane Leigh Charitable Trust for their generous support.

‘You’re So Real’ Schools Tour played to 3,000 students across Haringey and is now being made into a full-length film for schools after a special guest performance was hosted by Alexandra Palace. This short film highlights the impact of storytelling through drama and the importance of bringing the action directly into schools.

Developed with Year 5 learners from Fitzjohn’s Primary School in Hampstead, ‘You’re So Real’ is a performance and workshop that aims to engage and educate children and young people, giving them space to explore and reflect on what challenges may come their way in the future.

‘You’re So Real’ is dedicated to Mia Janin. Mia died by su***de as a consequence of the online bullying that she experienced as a teenager during secondary school. The play has been funded by the SJLCT in order
to help children, families and schools explore healthier safeguarding for young people using social media. It encourages children to ask for help if
they are experiencing bullying, or to take responsibility for their actions, by raising awareness of the potential dangers of social media and online
culture.

Thank you to all the schools and our incredible audience members, particularly those who feature in this film.

Thank you to the Anti-bullying Alliance for collaborating with us to create our Teachers Pack.

Thank you to the Ally Pally team for being incredible hosts.

And congratulations to the Creative team for their talent and hard work on this production.

This week we say goodbye to a staff member who has been at Haringey Shed for 14 years👏

Fitting with our season of work ‘Those Who Shaped Us’ we recognise what a huge & positive impact the team have here, and what special part they play. ❤️

As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations we reached out to people who used to come to Haringey Shed when they were younger (including some who still work here) to share how Shed has shaped them.

This video was played at the end of our birthday extravaganza performance of The Silver Hive.
